Morning all. Chamber of Commerce weather today but storms tomorrow. We need rain but not as badly as some. Sheep are on the upper pasture, next to the house so I can act on any disturbance. The Buzzardometer indicates the ewe is not far from where I saw her last, dead of course. If the undertakers get busy I will have little to deal with. For every beginning there is an end. I wish hers had been better. Below are my chicks. Hen hid from me and had a clutch of four with these two hatching. Better than nothing. I don’t know the gender yet.

Today at work, new price strips....noticed many 63 oz jugs of tide are being dropped to 55 oz, same price. Thanks P&G
It's that way with everything... make them smaller, have less NET Weight, SAME PRICE.... KFC did that awhile back... rather than raise the price of some of their chicken... they are getting smaller and smaller birds. The average age of a broiler that used to be raised for meat; in these big broiler houses; was 42 days several years ago... Then down to 38, then 34, now they are going out at 28 to 30 days... LITTY BITTY Chicken parts.. If people spend the same, they often do not see the slight "shrinking" of the product.
LOOK AT ICE CREAM... used to be 1/2 gallons... then 1.75... then 1.5..... some are now 1.43...... mostly the same prices.
AND to kick the dairy farmer in the teeth a bit more... MILK PRICES are in the $21-24 per hundred weight... and in fact prices dropped a little this last milk check... and the farmer has been getting that off and on for OVER 20 YEARS.....and the price being paid for the butterfat has dropped from over 3.39 down to 2.78.... so they are making more and more off the farmer that produces high butterfat milk... because it is skimmed off for butter, and heavy cream, and all sorts of things like that.

Awake early. No coffee, yet, as I'm actually going in to work for a few hours today.

Signed up for my Medicare supplement yesterday, now just have my phone appointment with Social Security in a couple weeks and everything should be complete.
:fl

I did rant a little with (not AT) the nice lady helping me with the secondary sign up. I received a couple letters in the mail from a philanthropy. They supposedly have paid off hospital bills for both my dad and husband. Why I was upset was because the hospital bills were not patient responsibility, they should have been written off.

So, charitable donations to help pay off medical debt of needy people were instead spent paying off illegal claims by greedy people. That makes me angry.

The whole economic thing is so convoluted! The poor farmers & poor people are just being stomped into the ground. There's the controls on so many producers that make their lives miserable.

When a farmer had a mule & plow, ate & sold what they grew, traded with neighbors -- it was so much better. 🥴 This raw milk crap is headlines again. Let people choose...I don't mean mainstream into stores but, dang let them go to a farm and buy. Can't be worse that constant recalls from manufactured.

I'm just so glad that I have the know how, ability and good health to provide for myself. Yep. Garden without chems, fertilize with manures, can in glass, butcher for meats from animals I raise, and drink raw milk, from my goats.

 I'm a walking time bomb!!

At work, sipping coffee, just cleaned out a bunch of old paperwork, most has gone in the trash.

Last night I was rereading an old favorite story, Conagher, when I came across this:

I have read this story many times, don't recall this paragraph. I thought "TRUTH" and meditated on it for a few minutes. I believe that part of the reason social media is popular is because people are lonely.
:caf
That says it all doesn't it? Nobody to share with, our soulmates are gone and we miss them terribly.

Wednesday, Buford did not cooperate, no semen collection. But on a positive note, he did not bite the vet and did not growl at anybody. Vet wanted me to leave him there overnight so they could try Thursday morning. I went to Trinity (town in Trinity county with TWO traffic lights-only ones in the county) for the Sheriff"s Breakfast. I sat with a few friends and we had a good time. The vet clinic called, Buford refused to come out of the kennel and growled at them. On my way. I felt so bad for leaving him there. Buford crawled out of the kennel and whined. I have never heard him whine and sound so pitiful. I hugged him, told him I was sorry, and let's go home. Next plans are for me to build a breeding cage, Fort Knox style and for one of @Ridgetop 's females to come in heat and come visit Aunt Baymule for awhile. Buford has the good stuff, he just doesn't know what to do with it.

Today-wash clothes, hang them up to dry. Strip sheets off bed, wash. Go pet Buford a lot. Storm rolling in tonight, 3-5" of rain predicted.

Trying to find lug nuts for 2005 Kawasaki mule. Provided vin number, then questioned; does it have factory black wheels? Ummm, nope. I need a picture of the wheel.
Me-wouldn’t the studs still be the same?
Guy-no.

I went to Harbor Freight and got deep socket thingys that are in pretty colors, 1/2” drive. I know a 9/16 is too small. I got metric and standard. I have soaked lug nuts on another wheel with PB Blaster. I guess I’ll have to take one with me.
