    EMERGENCY! GOAT GOUGED!

Help! My goat has a puncture wound in her side, right where her left hind meets her stomach. We don't know how it happened yet, there is no blood in their pen anywhere. So we are assuming is didn't bleed much. She seems in discomfort, but not serious pain. We can't really take her to a vet...

UPDATE: She was still being weird today, not taking treats, and hardly eating her hay at all. But later in the day, I saw her start hacking and coughing quite a bit, and out came a ball of hay (?)!! it was about an inch or 2 in diameter, and it looked pretty made up of hay. Her lump was all...

UPDATE!!: LUMP on Goats neck??? Help

Her eyelids look normal, pink. I think that if she continues to not eat, I'll call a vet. But her sides are nice and filled out like she's been eating so I'll have to really watch her.

UPDATE!!: LUMP on Goats neck??? Help

Today, I noticed my Toggenberg doe (about 1 year old) has a weird, small lump on her neck. Its not hard, or large in any way. Its small, barely there. It looks more like extra skin, but I've never seen it before. It is located right where the head meets the neck, on her throat. I will post...

    Goats fighting

so we just got our Nigerian back from a breeder (she has only been gone 5 days), and put her in the pen with her buddy again. They really started going at it, and have hurt themselves a bit. That's not the problem, but how do I stop it? I know it's just establishing dominance again, but I'm...

    Want to breed goat

Thanks for the advice! I looked for some breeders on Craigslist, but there weren't any I could go with. And the place I got them from was from a petting zoo I worked at, so no bucks. I then looked into some breeders closest to me, but the nearest one is a 2hr drive!! I'm gonna talk to a few...

    BROKEN GOAT HORN!

hello! So I got home today and found my younger goat with a bit of blood (not that much) on her head, where her right horn was. It was a short one anyway, only about 1/2inch, so it didn't bleed too terribly. I washed it out with some water (as much as I could, she didn't like that very much...

    Vegetable Oil?

At the barn where I ride, we have used a bit of vegetable oil in the horses daily grain to control dry weather/spring dandruff. Is this acceptable for goats? Can I put a bit of oil in their grain, or can that hurt them? Thanks!

    My Goats' Diet - Advice??

hi so I am wanting some feedback on my goats' feed and diet. I have a Nigerian Dwarf (a few years old) and an Alpine (about 7 months). Both are dry and not being used (packing, etc). They have alfalfa hay available all the time. They get about 2.5 cups (give or take a .5 cup) together of...
