Just spotted this beauty on my Dahlias. It's a Hunts Bumblebee. It was moving off before I could get a good picture of it. I've never seen one before.
Yes, buckwheat is a cover crop. But, it doesn't replenish nitrogen, just good at knocking down whatever else might want to grow there. It's also harvested to make flour. Buckwheat pancakes! It's also a very high protein flour. I think there are also used for the rest of the plant fibers.What is the buckwheat used for? A cover crop, then plowed under?
And what do you do with the honey if it tastes icky and smells like dead roadkill?
