๐Ÿ’—๐ŸOur Backyard Beekeeping Journey!๐Ÿ๐Ÿ’—

I want to find some mosquito fish, so far no luck. Not sure I want to buy online, shipping costs for fish is expensive.
A friend here had a pond, she got her mosquito fish from the county free. Might be that your state or county has a program for that.
Fried frog legs! Just be sure to cut the tendon behind the "knee" or they will jump out of the frying pan! :gig
Tastes like chicken  (true)
I'm in the desert, we mostly have sand toads.
IS that what they are?? We've got them as well. Only see them once in awhile -- usually after a good rain -- some are BIG!

I'll have to check into that, thanks.

I'm not sure about that... first one was okay... then maybe it was the thought of what I was eating and I couldn't do it anymore...:sick:gig

Yeah, they can get quite large.

Added 1:1 to both resource hives, Hive #3: Carniolan & #4: Buckfast.

The bees have discovered the pond plants.

Checked the white boards and I think the ants are carrying away the mites. I didn't have ants in my hives last year. I need to wash out the cans at the bottom of the stands and add more vegetable oil tonight.

0 count on all but #3, that had 4, 48 hours after treatment.

Today will be 2/9, I will check the boards each day, instead of waiting 3 days. It's easy enough to do.

Would be awesome if they continue to be this low. But I'm having a hard time believing it. I didn't expect them to be high, but thought we'd see a few. For Hive #5, the Demarre, we treated the bottom deep and also the deep above the 2 supers.

OAV 2/9 is complete.

My bee pond is coming along. We got a lot of things planted and have started adding rock on the back side. I bought so many plants... didn't I realize I'd have to plant them. Some are sitting in the pond, but not in their final spot. Still working that all out. The bog filter and upper waterfall are fully planted.

Fell in love with this Fairy Fiber Optic grass. It's on the left front side of the bog filter.

It's looking good! I know you'll be happy when complete. ๐Ÿ˜Š But those things just take time to "come together". You need a bench out there, to sit, relax & listen.
