). Glad they're all back together. If only they could talk!Still no idea what spooked them. Zero damage on the geese.
You never know sometimes. My chickens are used to me, but I tripped on something in the midst of them and they all freaked out like a monster was after them...lolAh.... geese...
SOMETHING scared them... so at lock-up time there was yelling... kid ran about trying to figure out what happened... maybe just a moose walked through? But.... they should be used to that.
Zero idea what happened... but we locked up five geese, 3 short...
We walked all over... kid thought he heard some down by the church pond (east of our house)... so he started walking that way....then I heard a few geese, flying AWAY to the west ... and I started walking that way!
Kid had already walked all of the way to the main road, AND down the main road a bit because the entire time we were looking for the geese a couple of dogs were barking like mad! Kid and I thought he should see where those dogs were....
Anyway, dogs weren't close... no idea where though...
I started walking down our driveway, west of our house.. and saw a goose! I was calling for them the entire time, she heard me and walked towards me, up the driveway, clearly upset. I called kid, told him to come home and come up our driveway.
By this time it was getting close to 6, so pitch dark.... geese can see squat all in the dark. I had 2 strong flashlights with me. I stood there in the driveway a bit, with the one goose, calling, and way down the driveway comes up a second goose! So I stood there a bit longer, I did more calling, no more geese...
I could see son's flashlight way down the driveway coming up, so told him I would herd my 2 home while he looked some more.
So, up to 7 geese, missing only 1.
I walked down our driveway, and found and tracked goose tracks. I THINK they got spooked on the front lawn, and then flew down hill, about 400 feet, and landed on our driveway. And then they started walking up our driveway.
Well... we couldn't find the third goose, and we finally gave up.
This morning, I told the kid to let the geese out, and they ALWAYS yell when let out, and to listen carefully to see if anyone yelled back.
And YEP! A lone goose yelled out, from east of our house! Kid ran over, and found the last goose on the church 4-plex lawn where dogs play!!! The goose was just fine, and kid herded him home.
So.... back to 8 geese.
Still no idea what spooked them. Zero damage on the geese.
