Yes! Having them come on command is important!Lucky!! Glad all are home safe. Ya know, it's the calling them that helps. My goats all come to a call & it's a good thing.

Why thank you! I think so too! I love taking photos of it. Also, I live right next door (well, one house to the west), so easy to do.Your church is so beautiful.

A lot of ups and downs. Best laid plans, don't always work out. I'm glad everyone arrived safely and you were able to have a nice Thanksgiving together.Well.... I was happy, and a bit worried... about 2 of my kids driving down for Thanksgiving. Kid #4 is in Anchorage with a truly crap car, I did put good tires on it, but they don't have studs. Kid #3 has a decent truck, but he doesn't put weight in the bed... which bugs me on winter roads.
Anyway, they BOTH made it down safely!
We had WANTED to make Thanksgiving a weekend of "build a much as possible on Kid #3's house" and THAT was a bust! Right at freezing and LOTS of rain! So no way were we going to get his roof dry, or want to get up on it to DO the roof! Blast it all!![]()
I had also looked forward to having 4 of my 5 boys at church this weekend. I have especially missed kid #4 being lead chanter and helping with the singing. And that was also a bust. The slushy/icy rain was scheduled to intensify Saturday... so kids went home early!
I only got 1 hour of work out of them... the goose pen, put together by mostly kid #5, had collapsed under a heavy snow load. I had the 4 of them put it back together, and more securely, but they didn't do as much as I had wanted, because NOT enough time.
Well, bother.
Thanksgiving meal was great... we had 3 turkeys, and a friend had gifted us locally harvested and canned up cranberries. Very nice!! That was a first.
We tried the sweet potatoes in a new way (don't ask what and how... spouse did that... sliced with goat cheese on top), I thought it sounded like a bad idea, but it was fantastic.
We had the cornbread dressing I make every year. Kid #2 made creme brulee, kid #5 made apple cobbler, and I made pecan praline pie. I COULD NOT find the recipe that I have used in years past... finely found one online from New Orleans, thinking it sounded close. The pumpkin part was perfect, NOT enough pecans on the top though... if I had doubled what it asked for... that might have satisfied me. Anyway, still excellent. I would have been happy to eat 2 pies by myself.
and this weekend was SOLID ICE FROM SEA TO SHINNING SEA!!
So yeppers, had my first fall of the year.
Just a little bruised.
He just wants to come in and snuggle...pleazzzee! He's beautiful.Also... a lynx has been hanging out at the house... I was wondering if it was rabid, or sick.... but now I am pretty sure it is healthy, and has started coming around for the fresh, liquid water I had been leaving out.
Also.... that is probably what freaked out the geese, what was that, 2 weeks back?
Anyway, geese are no longer allowed to free range, which also means that water pan is now dry! So hopefully the lynx will move on.
