This evening!!!

I have lived in this house for over 20 years...first time I have seen the pond GROW it's ice in the spring.

The kids keep teasing me about how the ice is at least keeping the island nice and high!

We have had various ducks play on our island, but never had ducks nest on it.

Almost every year we have a mallard that raises ducklings on our pond, and every year the ducklings get eaten! (Not sure what by, a lynx maybe?) It brakes my heart!

I was hoping that if we made the island a little bigger, and a tiny bit higher so the nest area is drier, but not too high so it is easy for ducklings to get on and off... maybe the mallard will nest on it.

So... Kids worked on the island... we put the island back in the pond... and we have no idea if it is done right or not! Not enough liquid water!
