I have a boer kid that has mucous in his eyes and little bit of nose discharge. His mother has little to no milk. He has been getting by but looked really bad today. I have brought him in to our basement. He also had 3 gates fall on top of him, thank goodness I was at the barn when it happened and got them off of him so he's had a rough start to say the least. I was going to give him some Survive and maybe penicillin???? Is anything safe for this guy as young as he is?? Thanks in advance for the help!!!!

Are you supplementing his milk intake?

if he's not getting enough milk I would give him whole cow's milk, put him on the bottle, you didn't say how old he was, it might not be to late to do this,

I tried giving him a bottle of whole milk but he wanted nothing to do with it. He is actually doing OK, looking a little better. He is nursing his mom and sneaking off of a few others. He's a trooper. He's actually growing so so far so good. Thanks for the comments!

I would keep trying a bottle one or two times a day. Warm milk to 104. ad a little corn syrup to sweeten it. Slip in his mouth and hold him tucked under your legs so he gets the shelf affect. Try for half a minute or so putting the nipple back in his mouth 3 or 4 times. keep trying daily. He may start to get hungrier by 2 to 3 weeks of age and more willing to take a bottle. I have had good luck wtih these nipples on stubborn dam raised kids. For some reason the shape allows them to get milk out easier and they will stay latched on longer.
I just get the replacement nipples and they slip onto a plastic soda or water bottle

2 or 3 ounces of whole milk with 3 cc's of karo light Corn syrup added works well.
Also, get a creep feed area set up for your kids and especially for him.

I have raised two over the years that were entirely sneaking off of another doe. The mom had rejected them but they discovered early on that they could sneak up on their "aunties" while they had their heads in the feeder and get snacks that way. They grew just fine, just not on their own's dam's milk.
