I downloaded them and they went somewhere, I didn’t know where. Documents don’t leave tracks, no scent, no sound, no blood trail. Just gone. I haven’t used my laptop much and still don’t know the fine points of documents and where they go. I wandered around, getting frustrated and accidentally found them. I printed them all out.

I used to lose docs all the time. DS1 had to retrieve them to mutters about "I told you to take a computer class!" Now I print everything and file it in my retro file cabinets. Between the actual file cabinets in the office and in our desks, I have 14 file drawers. Not to mention the old files that I box and store in plastic water proof storage boxes in the connexes. I may be old school but I find it i easier to pull a file and retrieve the paperwork, scan it and emai it than to lok through my computer for the elusive document I need. LOL

A new puppy! I wonder what Buford will think of that and I'm sure he'll deny it's his, I mean he doesn't remember having any fun...

Buford will love the puppies. It sounds insane with big tough Anatolins that will rip the head off a predator but male Anatolians LOVE puppies. Females are more like "Oh no! You brought home something else for me to take care of and teach?" Males actually fall in love with little puppies - you can actually see the moment when they realize this is a baby and fall in love with it! Bubba loved Angel from the moment he saw her. She could do nything she wanted to him. Hang off his ears, take his bones, and it was so comical. Harika was the disciplinarian. Then when Angel got bigger it was incredible to watch them both train her. Obi and Zo's adventures remind me of that training our Antolians did.

Erick called me yesterdy and his friend and co-breeder from the east coast is planning a trip out to see Buford. They are thrilled by his working abiity as well as his lovely conformation. I plan to use Buford on both my girls too so Baymule may have 4 puppies eventually!

For what it's worth --- Ree (mama dog) and Zo (papa dog) love Sage. I've had litters and kept pups, but the closeness of these three - it's way different - so much so we call them "The Unit"

I took Buford to Ratcliff Lake state Park this morning. I put him in the car instead of the truck. He panted but it was not frozen fear, zoned out and stress panting. He did real good. We walked all over the park, down to the lake, he got his feet wet but didn’t take a drink. He peed on so many trees and rocks until he ran out and was “air peeing”.

I stopped often and praised him. He was relaxed and enjoying the day. At one point he alerted at something to the left in the woods, he pressed up against me to keep me safe. When he was satisfied, we went on. Coming back, he alerted again but didn’t stop.

We had a good walk, he enjoyed it.

Load up! Went well, he turned away twice, I brought him back each time and he lumbered his big self in the back seat of my tiny car.

The vet clinic called!!!!!!!!!! Buford has an appointment Wednesday October 22 at 11:30!!!!! So excited!!

YAY! The collection clinic will become his second favorite place! LOL Bubba got so he would hop around and whine with excitement when we approached the clinic. I think he fell in love with the technician as well. She sweet talked him and called him her big fluffy bear.

Remember that the first collection may be full of duds since he has never been bred before but once they clear out the "blanks" they will be able to collect viable semen. Bubba was collected 3 times before we startd getting really good usable semen. Of course, Bubba was 5 years old so an older dog with sometimes less viable semen.

So excited for you! And Buford! And puppies!

Same with our bulls when put in with the cows... we will get a couple calves... but then usually go a couple weeks, and then they will come fairly regular... because the bulls are "cleaning out the pipes"... and semen does get " old and die off" but if they are not active, it sorta just sits there.
Case in point... have a "younger" bull... #9 Quaker Hill... is 4 now... used him as a clean up then he was inactive for about 4-5 months... Put him with 14 heifers.... confirmed 13 preg....a couple at 5 mo, most at 4+/- months... 1 at 3+ months and 1 at 2 1/2 months... The 3 calved within 3 days of each other... July 31, Aug 2....probably got bred the first day.... so overload of semen..... then went about 3-4 weeks... got 8 more calves within 3 weeks or so... then the youngest one just calved... and waiting on the last one...who happens to be the oldest one.... it'll be end of Oct at least... she is getting big around... but not much udder. She is also going to be the first to get sold if she does not do a fantastic job and breed back quickly. So, the bull bred the 3, and then his system got to making and sending down more good semen... hence the group of calves close together... the youngest heifer we almost did not put in with them... but she did good... caught.... the oldest one I never saw a recorded heat... so she is lucky she did settle... BUT.... she should have been bred sooner. The only thing is that maybe....just MAYBE.... she settled and had an early embryonic death and then got rebred after she started cycling at 30- 45 days again. SO, will give her another chance if she has a live healthy calf... If she does not have a live calf... then she is gone...
If we did not have a bunch of cows still calving, due to the timing of the bull put in that pasture... she would have 2 strikes against her rather than just 1 for being a late breeder. And she is my heifer by the way so not "picking on " one of DS's....

Does collecting semen this way help intact male dogs not be sexually frustrated if they haven't otherwise mated?
