Does collecting semen this way help intact male dogs not be sexually frustrated if they haven't otherwise mated?

I don’t know, but probably not. Just run a female past a male dog and it starts all over again. Somehow I just don’t the thought process would be, “Don’t bother me you gorgeous female in heat dog—I was collected by a veterinarian 8 months ago!”

I was curious if it would help in general, not that he would be unbothered by a female in heat. That's just natural. I see a lot of intact dogs around here and I don't understand why. Are that many people just letting their dogs breed? Maybe it's the expense of neutering?
Cesar Milan said to neuter male dogs unless you plan on breeding at least once a year, otherwise it just frustrates the animal. I didn't know if collecting semen would provide the same type of release as a regular mating.

My dogs are all intact, unless there was a good reason otherwise (i.e. female with pyometra - uterine abscess). I have no problems with males and females living together in the same house. When girls are in season they are separated when it gets close to "time". Of course they are closely monitored. It's been this way since I was a kid. So almost 70 yrs. But then - I do train my dogs and expect them to behave. John Q Public has no clue - or some think they'll make money or get rich quick (all those invent-a-breed-breeders doodles, poos, etc where prices are starting at $3K for a mutt).
Frustration on not breeding -- , never seen it with my dogs or others that work and/or train. That's Cesar projection himself on the dogs.
