Every morning (since I relocate to the recliner @ 2-3 am) Boone sneaks to the side of me and gently boops my face to wake me. I reach for the jar of mini milkbones, give him 3 and he happily climbs up on the couch…except for this morning.
He showed up for his gentle boop, but I was exhausted from an especially painful night so I failed to respond, with my head under the blanket and resting on the arm. Suddenly, my eyeball was shoved to the back of my skull, just prior to my nose being inverted to a concave feature on my face and my chin cracked from a machinegun series of NOT gentle boops which took place just seconds before Boone jumped in front of the cookie jar with an unearthly scream. 😱 I obediently reached in for the requisite 3 treats, then he retired to the couch, order in his world restored.
How was I supposed to know that Boone woke up this morning, prepared to do violence?

Boone is one of a kind. He’s a very special boy and greatly loved here on BYH. Due to your training, he’s accomplished some unbelievable things, especially for an Anatolian!
Thanks Baymule. He is unique in the LGD world. He exceeded ALL of my expectations. Yesterday he let me dremel 2 of his nails while giving him a belly scratch. It has taken over a year, but we are succeeding now, getting his permission. At his size, there is no orher way. But I only expected him to walk beside me for balance, I was surprised when he learned to open the door and bring me stuff. It seems he has learned to learn and I am constantly finding new gifts he has. Now its not just my meds he finds in the house and brings me, but I can show him, literally ANYTHING, tag a name to it, lock him in bedroom and hide it. When I say “go find it” he will locate it within minutes using both his eyes and nose. What a dog! I severely underestimated him

Boone makes me want an Anatolian - heck he'd make anyone want one! But I know well enough that so much time and training has been done at that early puppy stage that he not only learned what he was taught, but more importantly he learned how to learn. Kudos to both of you, it takes two!
