Anatolians are independent thinkers, they do their job without being told what to do, once trained. Working ability has to be there, show people are not working their dogs and they are concentrating on "pretty." Boone has plenty of working ability. YOU are his flock.

Boone’s breeder actually does work her dogs. But she shows her breeding stock as well. She is very strict regarding her standards on hips and if their OFA is “good” she doesn’t breed them, which surprised me. Both his parents OFA’d excellent, so I feel pretty confident about his soundness which is a huge deal if he does mobility for me. Until now, I’ve been careful with him, not letting him help me up or bearing any of my weight
He is super vigilant about predators Nothing gets to my poultry, rabbits, or the calves in the back. Being on 250,000 acres, there is no shortage of coyotes and the Maremmas ran off several cougars, one, during the daytime. It had walked down the driveway, right past the guys in the shop, and past a slew of barking border collies that were chained up. Bruno jumped the fence in the sheep pasture chased it down the dirt road behind the barn. That was the last time we ever saw it. When my Maremmas died, it was only a couple of days before coons tore everything up and slaughtered all the chickens and ducks in one night. Boone gets out the door quickly and runs out several times a night. Now and then I hear him roar and know it’s something more lethal than a coon he’s threatening.

He really is Godsent. As diligent as he is, like you said, I am his top priority. I look forward to getting him back to town with me, if I can get Randy to cooperate and leave my #!*& crate in my pickup where it belongs!
Boone is pretty much the best thing in my life, since losing the Heathen. That eerie communication thing I had going with Heath is beginning to happen with Boone. I think it’s because of my dependence on him and the 24/7 interactions with each other. It’s sort of a natural result coming out of that relationship. ❤️

Earlier today, Fen climbed up begging for treats. Of course it took no time before Gizmo was on my lap with him and Boone got jealous. He proceeded to paw slap Fen then tried to crawl in top of me. (Mind you, they will be burning the nerves in my lower back due to severe back and hip pain, on Friday) None of them were listening or obeying, it really hurt me as Boone stepped on me from over the arm of the chair to claim ownership of me. I screamed and yelled in Boone’s face and swore at him. Gizmo and Fen instantly disappeared (likely have PTSD from last night 😂) but Boone slithered back to the floor. The look on his face was incredulous, like a cross between horror and betrayal. He seriously looked like I had crushed his heart. I have never raised my voice at him before and felt terrible. He held that expression, staring at me with big eyes and I felt sick. I held his big old head and he didn’t move for a couple of minutes while I wallpapered his cheek with kisses. (He actually likes that, and offers his face to me often)

I hope I never have occasion to do that again as I felt just terrible. I never want to see that expression on his face again.

Boone is still young, and learned something from this, hopefully. Don't beat yourself up over it.
