I told @Ridgetop over our bottle of wine that Buford needed an experienced slutpuppy to teach him "how"
Hey, I think you're on to something! I recall reading that thoroughbred breeders use a "teaser" stallion to get a broodmare receptive.

I feel sorry for the teaser.

That would be Carson. I have the dog crate set up in the living room for when we get back. It will be late, I'll have to unload the horse and wont feel like tying the half hog panel over the gap above the end gate on the back of the trailer. So she can come in the house for the night and maybe more. Spend time with her and let Carson to "tease".

No worries, Ozel is definitely not in heat, unless miracles happen. She was already going out, taking a tour of south Texas sure didn’t help any. She rode in the back seat, AC blowing, all comfy on her blanket. Once got to Corpus Christi, I walked her, put her in her traveling bridal suite, fed and watered her.

@Ridgetop missed a good chance to have a litter of Dox-Atolians. Large long body, stumpy legs-a Livestock Guard Dog that could take out a coyote and go down a badger hole!

Surprisingly Ozel ate her food last night in Corpus Christi.

Ozel had it with her tour of South Texas I stopped on the way home for fuel, she was in the back seat, sticking her nose out looking pitiful.

Bringing the horse home in Ozel’s bridal suite left it in quite a mess, but I had a dog crate ready in the house. Thinking ahead, I knew I’d be home late, tired, nighttime darkness looming and I wouldn’t be interested in cleaning the horse apples out of the bridal suite, putting it back in the holding pen and tying the half hog panel back on the big gap on the end gate.

Introduction to dog crate 101 went rather well.

Just for giggles and grins, I’ll put Ozel and Buford together in the morning to see if absence has made the heart grow fonder. ❤️

I had this happen with one of my bitches. It resulted in puppies. I had kept my male and female apart during her regular heat cycle. Couple weeks later when they were working together again - this happened:

"A dog can come back in heat a few weeks after a previous cycle, especially if it is her first heat. This can happen due to a "split heat," which occurs when a young dog's first heat cycle is interrupted before it is complete. While it's unusual for a mature dog to have cycles that close together, first-time cycles can be irregular and may take up to two years to regulate. "

That is good to know, thanks @frustratedearthmother for that information. I bet that was a surprise for you to realize despite your best efforts she came in heat again on the sly and you had puppies anyway. I sure hope Ozel finally feels comfortable enough here after her road trip to come back in heat again.
