Took Buford to the vet clinic in Houston yesterday to meet Dikkat, a lovely Anatolian Shepherd. Eric, her owner, wanted Buford collected and the semen injected in the female. Supposedly they can place the semen farther in and it gives a greater chance of more puppies.

The vet tech came and took Buford from me. When I questioned that, she reassured me that the LGDs guard their owners and it would be best if I wasn’t in there.

Yeah, right.

She came right back to get me. Buford was closed up in a room, growling at them. I could’ve told her that, but FAFO.

Then they wanted to put a muzzle on him. I objected but once again, they were tight, I was wrong and big dogs bite. I think they were afraid of him. I put the muzzle on him. Buford looked at me with sad eyes and I took it off. The vet and techs didn’t like it. My dog, my rules, ain’t doing this crap. They tried to get him interested in the female, he sat down. He sniffed, poked her with his nose but was confused.

I suggested that we go outside to a closed in patio and yard. Buford immediately perked up. I took the collection sleeve from the vet. Buford mounted Dikkat, came off, mounted her again and got serious, I put the sleeve on his man part and collected the semen. The vet tested the semen and pronounced it very good.

His part done, we headed for home.

Finally got him with the program, I’ll take him back to get collected for AI in a few weeks.

And bring wooing treats...

🌹🌹🌹🍫🍫🍫

:D =D
He is not treat oriented. He could care less about treats. He wants my approval. Most Anatolians do not work for treats, they work for the love of what they are doing and the approval of the one(s) they love. I've tried calming him down with treats and it just doesn't work.
