Buttons 2023 Calving Thread

Tuesday she started to look a lot looser, and she has more milk now.

I tried to get a picture showing how ‘indented’ it is beside her tail, but it didn’t really show.

I finally might have an exciting update. Baby has been acting a little different today, and has been spending a lot more time standing alone than usual.

She was just standing alone but then a bunch of the other cows gathered around like there was something going on, nothing yet but maybe.

Nothing new to report, it’s almost midnight so I’m going to bed and will check early!

Get some sleep... I hate to tell you but her udder is not near ready for a calf... heifers naturally will bag up alot more... and I am talking full, tight swollen looking. Although you said that yours tend to a little early, I am standing on the prediction I made that she had probably a month back the first part of April. I expect she will still go another week of more.... She is swelling some but......

She is right. If @farmerjan tells you, it’s right. She knows her cows! It’s just so exciting to be looking for your heifer to have her first calf. The agony of waiting!

Well, finally have an exciting update for you guys.

Sally had the first calf of the year!

She’s a girl!
