I think it was @SageHill who recommended RexSpecs for noise reduction head wear. They have a sale on right now, HALF OFF.

Link:

I ordered one for Caleb, for thunderstorms.
Very cool!! I hope they work - they should. I do have the goggles - they work well, we use them at very high elevations (trips) for uv protection for their eyes. I know a lot of serious working dogs that are using them.

Today we did a walk at Pet Supplies Plus. I picked up a spare Benebone as they were on sale. Afterwards we did an abbreviated park walk, shortened as I was feeling uncomfortable with the 80° heat. My body needs time to adjust.

Caleb was a bit wild a few minutes ago, but I got him calmed down, and now he has crashed. I don't recall seeing him take a nap today...hmm.

And the balance between exposing Caleb to new experiences but not overstimulating him continues.

Stopped at the farmers' market, bought some sourdough bread and more chicken feet while Caleb waited in the car, about 20 minutes.

Across the street was the park, where we did a loop around a "pond" before heading for the nature trail.

By the time we were leaving the trail was getting populated with big bully dogs dragging their "owners", and Caleb was getting anxious. I'll remember to go early again on future walks, like 8am, to avoid people who can't control their dogs.

Dropped off the push mower at the repair shop.

Stopped at the vet to weigh Caleb. He's 40 lbs.

Stopped at Aldi's for a couple items, Caleb waited 15 minutes.

Once home I put Caleb in his crate with a chicken foot. After 10 minutes or so he was quiet, so I opened the crate, and he came out. He ripped the remains of one of his toys, but within a few minutes...

I think it was a good balance.

I'd like to get him a little better adjusted/trained before getting on the road, maybe later this Spring.

How did you make blue jean leg toys?
Cut leg in sections. Sew together on one end, sew other end almost closed, stuff and hand sew the rest of that end. For the bottom of the leg, where the bottom seam is, just sew across several times right above that bottom seam. Tuck under the cut edge and sew across that, leaving enough open to put stuffing in, then hand stitch or machine stitch to close it up. Use the rest of the leg in like manner. Blue jean legs also make good pot holders. but not the stretchy ones!
