my goats were treated with cydectin for worms. i'm quite new & failed to get the vet to tell me what the worms were. I still am going to get that info.

they have been getting corid for cocci, which the vet said they also had. Monday (tomorrow) will be day 7 of his prescribed 7 day treatment. I still have one & maybe two goats who's poop isn't back to normal. it's firm, but more like dog poop than goat poop. do I have a problem? wrong wormer, wrong dose - or am I maybe ok & things will smooth out in the next few days?

btw, I gave them two day's of red cell. their eyelids are still not back in the full pink yet. is that ok, or should they have bounced back by now?

I just bought a microscope & should be getting the slides anyday. I will be teaching myself what to look for so I don't have to take fecals to the vet.

thanks so much

Sorry but CoRid is just not a very effective treatment for coccidiosis. Yes, it is easy to get and can be used to prevent an outbreak, albeit with risk, but once an infestation is present, it is time to get something stronger. We use DiMethox here and by the end of the second or third day, poop is back to normal (and it should be with yours if the treatment is working). Call your vet and ask for it or for SMZ-TMP/ or order it from a supply store asap.

Not sure on the eyelids but anemia take time to get over since blood cells take weeks to develop and build up again after an infestation. Again, talk to your vet about the type of parasite he or she noted and don't forget to retreat for parasite 10-14 days after the initial treatment.

Good advice from PearcePastures. I would probably repeat the coccidia treatment with something stronger.

Dog log poop is an improvement but not a full one. I would suggest giving 2-3 times the dosage for Probiotics for a couple of days.

I worked in icu ccu and the er for years. Drs who know what they're doing double dose antibiotics the initial time its given. I believe its a good idea for animals too. Just once. Not every time. Only the first time you give it. I know this advice is late but for next time.
Btw order a supply of dimethox from jeffers. That way you have your little pharmacy. Also order whatever else you might need ahead of time.
Keeps the stress level down when you have the meds for predictable desease.
