Caleb's Chronicles

I can’t keep a cone on Boone so he has 2 sets of jammies. I just have the be sure to lock the door so he doesn’t go out to pee or worse in them!

The few occasions I’ve had to put a cone on one of my dogs, I slept on the sofa, dog on the floor, short leash so I could feel their every movement. Not much sleep, but we got through it.
No couch here. We got rid of our old sofa about three years ago. There are two recliners and a rocking chair in the living room now.

Last night before bed Caleb was sleeping in his day crate, totally "out of it". I made the decision to just shut the door and let him sleep there than wake him up and drag him to his night crate. Plus I wasn't sure if he would be able to turn around in his night crate while wearing his cone.

Right now he's pouting behind my chair.

He managed to get his cone off, then mouthed my hands as I was reattaching it. Nope, buddy.

We open presents on Christmas Eve, it's a tradition. As each item was unwrapped, we threw the paper on the floor, encouraging Caleb to rip it up.

Amazing how his mood improved with some destruction!

He took his pill about an hour ago, and is going down, down, down. I'm going to try to get him in his night crate so at least I'm in the room with him.

Thank you, all!

Caleb reluctantly went into his night crate at bedtime, but managed. No whimpers, yips, probably because I was in the room. And he was pretty doped up. I did hear the cone scraping the inside from time to time.

This morning he seems more like his old self, just slightly subdued. The pain med says "as needed" so I gave him 1/2 a pill, will see how he does.

Merry Christmas!
