So...Caleb has been bouncing off the walls all afternoon, jumping up, not listening, worse behavior than when adopted. Much worse!

I went online and researched, found that side effects of Trazodone include increased anxiety and aggression!

I put him in Time Out as he was out of control, jumping up, and grabbing at my hands and clothing. With teeth.

Uh, no.

Thirty minutes later he'd been quiet, so I let him out of the crate.

Guess what? Yep. You guessed.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

I spoke with his foster, she agreed with my thought to take him off the Trazodone, and confirmed that cold turkey is fine.

I hate seeing Caleb acting like this. Poor pup.

Carprofen. He gets one a day.

Oh. I just looked it up...one of the possible side effects is aggression.


That's it. Caleb is going cold turkey tomorrow.

Too late for this, but I keep Arnicare pills for pain , for me and the dogs. Arnicare pills help with the pain from snakebites, Benadryl for swelling and a baby aspirin.

It's been a couple days and I suspect most heavy pain is over...tender, yes. Give him 1/2 an aspirin if you don't have baby ones

OK - just putting this out there. Way back when, long, long ago (sounding like a fairy tale), dogs weren't given pain meds (spay, neuter, etc). Now they are given pain meds for practically anything. Sigh. OK I get not wanting them to be in pain, chronic stuff, etc. I've got an oldster who I will do almost anything for. BUT -- you want the dogs to be quiet so they can heal -- then they're given pain meds so they don't feel anything, want to and will zoom and romp around when they should be quiet and still-ish. Not trying to be cruel or anything, God knows I love my dogs to the moon and back - but there is a reason for pain - to take time to heal. Just sayin'

Caleb is off his meds, and he's almost back to normal.

He put himself down for a rest in his crate. Yesterday he was afraid of it, I had to push him in.

What a difference.

He got a belated Christmas present, to distract him from licking himself.
