Two things, which encourage me.

First...I heard Debbie mewing, she wanted to leave my bedroom, so I left Caleb in the living room, gate closed. I opened my bedroom door, returned and closed both Caleb and me in the living room. I sat in my recliner, Caleb came to me for some loving. I petted, stroked him for a couple minutes before noticing Debbie in my peripheral vision, entering the kitchen. Caleb noticed, too, staring at the kitchen, ears up. But I was petting him, nice scritchies around the neck (hand under the collar), and so he didn't bark, just relaxed. After Debbie finished eating I heard her jump down, and saw her walk around the table, cautiously, then back down the hall to the bedrooms. Again, Caleb was interested, but OH those scritchies were more important. No bark, no tension, just a little interest.
:fl

Secondly, I've been walking Caleb about 8:30pm before putting him directly in his crate. He was better behaved this evening, so I thought I'd try letting him relax a little after his walk, and before putting him to bed.

And within a few minutes he's crashed.

Thursday Update

Caleb is doing SO much better with Sit and Wait while I go down the steps. He's not 100%, but getting it right most of the time.

This morning after his two walks and breakfast I tried something a little different. I usually put his frozen chicken foot in his crate, and shut the door after he enters. Today I offered it to him, he took it gently, and then I said "Take it to your crate" as I steered him into the crate, and shut the door.

THE BIG NEWS!

Caleb and I were in the living room. I heard Debbie 😼 crying to be released from my bedroom. DS heard too, and I told him to let her out. I sat in my recliner, Caleb sitting next to me. The fencing gate was shut. Caleb's ears perked up, and I saw Debbie cautiously walking into the kitchen.

NO BARK!

I called Caleb over to me and told him what a wonderful dog he was.

Then it happened again, and just now, third time!
