Does Your Dog SPLOOT??

Recently it has come to my attention that some dogs SPLOOT. I accessed our dogs, and indeed, there is a SPLOOTER in the pack! You might know that it is Trip. Trip gave evidence of SPLOOTING the very first night we had him in our home. As he grew, his SPLOOTING grew with him. He got bigger...

Caleb got agitated by the outdoor cats taunting him, and was acting up, badly. I yelled at him, and he cowered.


I am trying to not yell at him, and I wouldn't ever strike him. I hate seeing his reaction to loud yelling.

You need to know that, and it is a tool to be used in the future, knowing his reaction to the level you used will let you know just how much to use. You're doing great. At this point he should know a ~little bit about reacting properly to the cats.
My dogs bark at stuff, sounds, stuff - it's not constant or anything -- but there rarely is anything bark-worthy. One starts and the rest follow -- but early on I started giving Sage a treat when they barked. She learned it ignore their barking and not join in. You could try something similar with taunting kitties.

I was going to suggest something similar when you said Debbie walked past the gate and Caleb didn’t bark, but rather looked at you. As in seeing the cat is the cue to not bark and to look at you instead.

My dachshund gets so excited when he knows (or thinks) someone is coming to the door. He barks and goes crazy. I’ve been trying to teach him that being Quiet gets him a treat. He has it figured out pretty well, so that if he’s asleep in the other room and I open the door for whatever reason, he races to where I keep the treats and stands there Quietly. (But a lot of times, if there IS someone at the door, the excitement overwhelms him and he throws quiet (and the treat) out the window! )

I was wondering if the wind is bothering him, it's very blustery out there. He didn't defecate as usual on his evening walk (dinner at 4), was extremely antsy in the house, chewing on my sleeves, nibbling on my hands, things he knows are not allowed.

When children, dogs start acting up...something is bothering them, and I felt he was trying to get my attention. So...I bundled up again, took him for another walk, had lots of frenzied sniffing of the ground, then as we were going down the street he started walking on my heels, so to the back yard we went, where he finally did his business (nothing out of the ordinary), and when I got my coat hung up he started licking his bowl. Hungry? I gave him an extra 1/2 cup. He's now relaxing, tossing and chewing a rope toy.

What it all means? I'm not sure.

Night crate meltdown. Caleb didn't want to go down the hall, so I picked him up and brought him to the bedroom. I think he wet himself.

I'm lying in my bed, lights are off but he's still yapping and whining in the crate.

Did I mess him up? Or is this normal for a decompressing dog?
