Caleb's Chronicles

had lots of frenzied sniffing of the ground, then as we were going down the street he started walking on my heels,
Excellent observing his change of behavior 👍 Looking at this from a dog's eye/schnozz view and considering what is in his recent past ---- could be the rotten dogs were out again (thank God not at the same time) - hence the walking on your heels (your are his safety net) and also not wanting to finish his business. Trauma type things shut all the other activities down.

Thank you. I feel terrible for losing my temper and yelling. I am working hard at doing better.

Last night Caleb was pacing, was very "mouthy" too. He barked in his crate on and off until about 2am.

He's a little calmer this morning. He was doing well, but as we exited the door for a walk he saw a FedEx delivery man coming up the driveway, and exploded into barks. He never did that before, so triggered.

No street walks today, just low key yard walks.

You're doing fantastic -- and so good following your instinct on this -- as for temper and yelling -- we're all human.

Another back yard walk, lots of marking, and did his "duty". Then he had to grab my coat sleeve in his mouth. Back inside he had a short TO in the day crate with his chicken foot while I went outside to finish the chicken chores, dumping ice and adding warm water to the rubber tubs. And scattering BOSS around the runs as a supplement for their body heat needs.

MUCH better!

This evening's last "p" walk was in the front yard, but then Caleb led me down the driveway and up the road. He seemed ready to face the world beyond the yard, again, so off we went. On the way back a neighbor's car went by, Caleb fixated on it, and I heard the pre-bark rumble. I tut-tut'd, and got him inside quickly so he wouldn't start barking.

Just a few yips from the night crate so far. I think his low key day may have helped unwind Caleb a bit. I'm thankful.
