Went to "Little Washington" this morning.
We met a nice older gentleman riding down the boardwalk in a golf cart. He was emptying the trash cans and filling the "dog bag" dispensers. I always carry a couple grocery bags for dog clean up, but it's nice when some are provided. Caleb approached him, and allowed him to touch. I had no worries, it was obvious that the man knew dogs.
I saw about four dogs being walked, all leashed.
I brought Caleb to the grass side to avoid a large dog being walked, and the owner started to follow us! I said "No. He's reactive!" and she stopped, with a puzzled look on her face. 
The owners of other dogs we encountered gave us room, thankfully.
Caleb is excelling at sitting when I stop walking, but has been terrible about sitting at the door as I get on my coat. He used to be good about it.
Two steps forward, one step back. Oh well.

Caleb was a bad boy this morning.
I was going to take him to a local park, was opening the back door of my SUV as he was sitting on the top of the steps when he bolted. He usually sits and stays well, we've done this many times before. He saw a cat, lost his mind and sprinted after it, into the woods. I whistled, used the clicker (which he has been training on), no response. I went searching but couldn't locate him in the neighborhood. While I was driving around I got a text from my brother that Caleb had come home, he was barking at the door.
Our ride was cancelled, he'd already gotten a good run, and went to sleep next to my recliner.
So...this afternoon he's been on his cable in the yard while I've been working on trimming, mowing. I parked the trimmer by his water bowl, and an hour later he finally investigated it.
I didn't mow close to him, so he didn't get more than mildly agitated.
He seems content to just watch me. I sit within his reach when I take breaks.
Still learning though we didn't go out.

Dogs in the neighborhood are constantly yapping, hysterically.

A GOOD morning, for the most part.
We went out about 9, and I stopped at the local shelter to see one of the volunteers. While parked and waiting Caleb was very anxious (duh, barking dogs) but I kept telling him to sit down. At one point he started barking, so I left the car, walked out of sight, and he quieted down. Volunteer came over and loved on Caleb, which was a plus, he's been scared of people since his nail trim catastrophe. Then we went to the park across the street for a walk.
The fields were full of children playing soccer, and family members watching from the sidelines, with their (leashed!) dogs. I took the paved wooded path, sat on the benches occasionally, making Caleb sit between my legs. I also made him sit and wait for oncoming walkers and joggers. There were a few people walking dogs but I kept space between us.
Caleb calmed down, and sat beautifully.
On the end of the path walk we passed by the playground (very active) and more soccer fields. Caleb did well, and I was very pleased. And he was very tired.
At home he relaxed on his cable while I took care of the chickens and watered the transplants. Then we sat together in the shade for a little while.
Now he's napping in his crate.

Sunday was a fairly quiet day. I did take Caleb for a lengthy (35 minutes) walk around the new development, but not until 6:30pm.
Today I determined to get a long nature walk before it got warm. I packed a light lunch, water, and drove about 40 miles east to a NC state park.
The insects aren't out in force, yet, so I took us down the swamp trail.
The park was well maintained, and had benches along the way.
I observed lizards and turtles by the paths, heard leopard frogs, and Caleb noticed something as well.
Instead of backtracking I followed the park road back to the parking area.
I estimate we walked about two miles.
Tired pup!
