Flipping from day shift to night shift again. I had yesterday off & tried to make the best of it.
Replaced batteries in some motion detection lights & got them hung on a couple of key trees along the path from the house to the chicken yard.
Got the chicken yard mowed. Always an adventure. Got the little enclosure set up to keep the chicks close to the coop, and figured out a creep feeder for them. Also supervised & broke up a little bullying from the big girls on the chicks. They've got to learn their place in the pecking order.... but come on! Let them get some feathers first.
Gathered up 3 big piles of sticks & branches.

Used the bagger mower to turn several piles of leaves into mulch. Weeded the asparagus bed & put all that mulch really thick over it.

Next up will be building a dead hedge around the ferns.

How's Eva? And the chicks?
Eva has been her usual quiet, sweet tempered self. I'm just waiting to see if another 'heat' happens.
The chicks are growing! One got out of the little play area yesterday & got left behind when everyone else went to roost but got rescued & back with mom.

I've been on days again. 🥴
They didn't actually NEED me to be there... so my old trainer asked to have me work with him in an area called the Coater. It's R&D making similar fabric but using resins instead of an adhesive weft. It's been interesting. I love to learn new skills & processes. But I'm SOOooooo tired. Happy to have the weekend OFF! 🎉🎉

Poor foxglove got moved while blooming & stunted. Then got flattened 2x by storms. But still growing & blooming.

@fuzzi I nearly stomped that lady slipper several times so she now has a guardian angel keeping her safe.

So, yeah.... it took me 2 weeks to actually get this done :hide

That raised garden bed I built over the winter... it became a waist-high lusciously thick weed bed. Today I finally got around taking the weed eater to it. Chop & drop. Then cover it with a tarp. High temps coming this week will hopefully kill the weeds. Or at least bring them to a manageable level. Mid June is usually summer planting for this area.

I've got this 16' bed, two small 2'x2' beds, one side of the clematis arch & several spaces in the herb bed to use.
🤞
