Went to collect eggs -- NO. 😲 2 hens have gone broody....growl, peck & snuggle down tight. Breasts are almost feather bare to heat them. Tomorrow I'll check again. If settled in, I'll get the broody hen boxes set up, move them at night to a full nest. šŸ¤ž

Oddly, less eggs past 2 days. I'm scanning for the dreaded rat snakes! 🤬. So far, none. But real tight check over weekend, in case. Machete at ready.

Rain all day. Wet, cold, dreary. At jobs most of day.

I’ll take a cup if you have cream…Boone is having a rough morning. Fen keeps trying to get comfortable and sleep on the bed (because I’m in recliner) and Boone can’t have that, so he must go evict him. But something is going on outside, breaking all of his rules, forcing him to yank the door open and charge out back roaring and barking.
Fen once again, lawlessly settles onto my pillows like the little criminal he is and Boone has to kick the back door open to come inside and correct him. It’s 4 am. Whatever is outside is relentless. He tries barking loudly, then howling from the bed with his best ā€œAWOOOOOOā€sā€.Now TheMan is barking at Boone who actually runs in and boops me on the mouth (in appreciation of my good citizenship, perhaps?) and out the backdoor again to put out whatever miscreant is disturbing his peace.
Fen, I’m sure, is enjoying the entire event, cuz that’s how he rolls…

It's not my spring weather outside. šŸ˜ž Nope. Breezy, cold, wet, goes right thru you. Almost 2" of rain in last 24 hr and ground is soft, wet....grasses make you need boots to keep pant legs dry. There's a bunch of stuff to move to get to my horse trailer šŸ™„šŸ˜– AND it's goat auction day. Yeah, I'm not gonna get there! :old not wrangling goats in this set up. My bad.

Need to check if those 2 hens are still on nests. Then decide if I need to go buy eggs -- new bloodlines will hatch. Can do that instead of above auction. Home all week, so I can separate animals for next month & set up for loading. 🤷 Just hate that this is one before Easter, so more meat buyers there. It's life! Have more coffee!!!

Ducks ate their feed I got them so that's going to be a drop in their food bill. PM showers, better hurry up and get the feed in the pole barn. Plenty of machinery to move it, the only machine that can put it where I want it exactly is currently down.
Got 4 tons so far, going for another 4 to 5 tons come next week. At this rate I might as well put a grain bin up, oh wait I got a few still. Grab what you can before they run out this week, after that got to wait till next year for more.

Different note, my dad made it home and using the ramp I built, without it he would be stuck indoors dying away. Problem is if left unattended he will end up doing stuff he shouldn't, step mom woke up to him mowing the lawn on the riding lawn mower. I would of like to have been there to seen that one as he struggled to get out the electric wheel chair and onto the lawn mower

You did good by building the ramp for your dad. He’s dying either way, so he might as well go outside and do something that makes he feel better about himself. Beats being shut inside and nothing to do. I’d say you are a good son. He may not have been a good father, but you are a good son.

52 to 78 today and cooling through the week. Very strange fog this morning. Heavy and thick watched it roll in - but unlike every other time in the last 6 years it came in from the north, not the west. Strange - go figure.
Busy day ahead post office pick up (wish they’d deliver packages here), irrigation supply store customer appreciation day, Sage has a mock search event, and the usual stuff plus things I forgot! 🤣

3am club for me. Sheepdogs were barking brutally. I spotlighted various areas, but didn’t see anything. Probably feral hogs, I see them occasionally. Spent the next two hours listening to The Dresden Files (the books not the awful tv series). I should try to up my audio book game but occasionally my Sci Fi inner nerd wins.

Did you finish them yet? I found the tv show to be funny and enjoyable (and did i mention funny?), but nothing like the books, which were a tad dark and adult for tv adaptation at the time...and not my favorites, but i still read them so I guess they were addicitive too. As a spoiler: I felt like the author could have done more with the world he set up but took the lazy route and stopped short. The world building in that series was the strong point rather than the plot, imo.
