Another cool night. 62 now and I'm loving it!! 3 days no AC needed :clap and house gets aired out. Won't last tho -- back to 90 by weekend. Oh, well. It was like a little "gift"...some cooling.

Back to the job grind for two weeks now, every day. Wallet will be happy, thoughts of winter hay prices is scary.

Connecticut was my home for 21 years. It's a hopeless cesspool of corruption, has been for years, but the old houses and the natural areas still sing to my heart. I probably won't be back, so I took time to drive around a little.

Just a couple photos...

Portland, CT. That building housed a coffee shop for decades, "The Coffee Pot". They had to erect barriers because at night people would fail to turn, and ram into the storefront.

Also Portland, CT. This church is made from Brownstone, quarried locally and unavailable elsewhere.

One more:

East Hartford. Ron and I lived here after we were married in 1980. We had the first floor apartment.

I love the area, too bad the government and winter weather suck.

The government has been awful here since the 1980's, high taxes and COL. We realized we would never be able to do more than barely keep our heads above the water, so we relocated to SC in 1988, NC in 1999. Never would have been able to buy a house in CT.

73 and sprinkling. Front porch weather. Hubbs left the house at a cow milking hour to meet his boss for a tour of oilfield equipment. Looks like the weather will cooperate at least this morning. Nothing like scrambling over cranes and crushers and derrick gear searching for serial numbers etc. in the blazing sun. Makes me feel kind of whiny complaining about chasing Moses through the woods. I started a journal here. I’m not sure I should. My observations aren’t that unusual and well - internet. Do I really want to share? I’ll try it for awhile and I won’t be clagging up Coffee Anyone quite so much. Have a good day everyone, I’m going outside. Voluntarily. :weee

Sitting in my motel room, sipping coffee, funeral isn't until 2.

So...yesterday I drove from Harrisburg, PA to CT by way of the Delaware Water Gap (north of Allentown). It's a lovely, peaceful area of woods and waterfalls.

Enjoy:
So glad you safely made it there. That is beautiful! I love areas like that. 💗

Sitting in our hotel room waiting for my husband to wake up...again... he was awake @4 something and woke me up. He of course was able to fall back to sleep, I'm glad he could, but not me, I'm sitting here, trying to be quiet...AND I WANT MY CUP OF TEA! 🫖☕

@fuzzi - I feel the same way about CA. Love the land, the climate, but the government is the same as you described. We were lucky in when we moved here, and even luckier when we bought the ranch.
Need to do some more canning - those tomatoes are ....... a jungle of red orbs. Perhaps roasted tomato lime salsa today.

No job work today -- goats made a new hole in a weak fence spot 😳😞 still on property but, out of pastures. So...got them back in, replaced the bad section and said job work can't happen!! Then did chores, mowed yard, came in for a break & cooked 2.5 dz eggs....gave 1 dz to DS, peeled others and made egg salad. While that was going on, cooked potatoes & made potato salad -- to help use up the eggs. DS did the trim work, all along house fence lines, walk ways, etc, walk behind trimmer. There's a LOT of trim at fences alone.

While out there noticed a few goats looked sad. Loaded up Valbazen & shared with several goats....checked nests for more eggs, cleaned & filled water tubs, walked 2 pastures fence lines -- in case. Now I'm pretty well done for the day! 😁 But feeling productive! I can go to work feeling they are penned again!
