Coffee anyone ?

Of course I had to have a couple spoonfuls to make sure it turned out :drool🤤
Safety first! That's called quality control I believe! ;) Wouldn't want to make anyone sick. Have to try it a couple times for safety. 😂
I got up super early and went to a friends for thanksgiving supper. I am invited every year but only go when it's at her house vs her cousins who I really don't know. Made me sad knowing that this was the last Thanksgiving here doing what we've done for many years. She's been saving me boxes on and off for years for an eventual move and I picked another bunch up while I was there. An entire pickup load. That should help even more on making packing progress.
Tomorrow I'm going to attempt to tackle the rabbit first. Probably call it for the day on that and maybe tackle the first batch of chickens saturday. Maybe my better half will be willing to help me pluck. I will be buying a plucker after we move but I refuse to finally buy one just to move it. I've been using that as an excuse for years to not spend the money on one. 😂
I hope my better half will be sealing the trailer up this weekend. Then that will be a few less things on the list.
Time to go bring the cow in and get to milking. Almost out of cream for the weekend.
Hope y'all had a blessed Thanksgiving! Really am thankful to @farmerjan for suggesting I come here. You folks truly are some of the nicest folks. Hugs to each and every one of you!

My husband and I bid on a HUD repo, won the bid, then euphoria quickly gave way to frustration and despair. Most horrible experience in buying a home ever. Here is a link to the experience for your laughing pleasure.

I have been working through this thread and holy cow. Some things make me laugh because they are so relatable and the way you word it just nails it. Some things make me want to cry because they are relatable. Some things have me :ep. I absolutely intend to follow this thread all the way through because golly it's a doozy so far. I'm wondering if you survive.:barnie It's like a book that I can't wait to see what happens next but at the same time I'm terrified to see what's next! :pop

It wasn't much fun, but I refused to give up. We bid on it and had not even seen it, won the bid, went to Tyler to sign papers and then the real estate agent took us to the property to look at it. We went from a 2500 square foot brick home to a 1500 square foot doublewide mobile home. The ad for bidding said 1900 Square foot, they lied. LOL I was dealing with a finance company, one person was in New Jersey, the other one was in California, so a lot of fun with time zones. I usually got an email with read and e sign 43 pages, print out 58 pages, sign and fax back, almost daily right around 5 PM. I'd call my husband, tell him not to leave work, rush the printed pages to him and we faxed them back. Crazy every day. We had a wonderful life there, had lots of fun and enjoyed every minute of it. My husband passed in September 2021, I decided to sell it and move to either Trinity County or Houston County, was going to list the farm in March of 2022, but my daughter answered a FB post in December. They were at the farm 2 hours later, said they'd take it and we closed 63 days later. I had to hustle!

People like me would come out on top of those repo bids. Skip the list of repairmen, just let me know what I need for permits if any I will fix it myself.

Snowing and we are getting ready to drop below zero tonight!

Waiting on tractor parts to supposedly deliver today....chilly 31* but sunny out. I'm inside warming. Truck on jacks, front wheels off, parts expected Monday 🫤 showing in transit, and expect on time. Good. I need both running. Tractor injectors, so not long install time if temps let us work on it. 🤞Hope it's all it needs.

Expecting mid 20s tonight -- these are Jan/Feb temps here.

Good afternoon. Both Caleb and I slept late.

We had a nice Thanksgiving, turkey, stuffing, Mac & cheese, wax beans and peas from April's garden, sweet potatoes harvested in October (sweet!), cranberry sauce, pumpkin and mince pie. I took Caleb for lots of walks. I was trying to tire him out, but he got overstimulated. He had an early evening Time Out in his day crate that resulted in yipping, then barking. I went to another room, about 15 minutes worth of tantrum before he calmed down, at which point I took him for a walk, then went to bed.

Much less drama today. He's young, and learning.

Started out today with Sage searching at the Antique Gas and Steam Museum (a whopping 11 miles from home). Passed up on playing the idiot driver after T-Day bumper car parking lot games (sadly they will continue until January)
Sage and I had a lot of fun doing vehicle searches on lots of great vehicles. Hmmm - does that make it historical searches??

What's Sage searching for?
Sage has been and is being trained for sport odor detection -- in her case the odors are birch, anise and clove. The actual "hide" is a half a Q-tip that has been kept in a jar with about 50 or so other half Q-tips and a drop or two of the odor (essential oil).
The Q-tip is then placed in something (to not contaminate the area/environment) and hidden.
Here are two of many ways to put the Q-tip in something (vessel) -
centrifuge tube and a slide tin that has magnets to hold it in place like on the old vehicles/tractors/etc.

It's the same type of training as explosive, narcotics, agricultural, etc -- we just use legal odors.
