Actually, it will help a little... but the timing is off... What we need is a good freeze after a warmer moist time... like a warmer, rainy spell when they climb up on the stems of plants to be eaten by the sheep and goats... then a HARD FREEZE to kill the larvae in the pastures... It might help a little in places like TX where they did not have weeks of colder "winter" weather like we get here in VA.
But overall... there should be a little bit of a reduction in the population for a little bit... not long standing...
We have been saying we needed a good hard cold freeze to cut back some of the "germs and bugs".... It will kill some of the larvae in the ground... but..... barber pole worms are a real B@#&%....

Good afternoon all!
Started off returning a call to the trust's health care again. The supervisor finally tried calling today. She was supposed to follow up on the 16th.
Left the most generic message on my voicemail. Just said that she tried multiple times to call and that she called. What? I specifically told her our schedule yet she still called in the morning. They always act like "well we tried calling and you didn't answer" with an attitude. I'll admit I'm getting to the point where I give it back to them when I say "well I specifically told you my schedule when we spoke and when it was good to call and actually reach me" which usually stops that in it's tracks. I shouldn't have the attitude but I'm so tired of getting it from them when I'm up front about best times to call. So I waited and went through all the call stuff and explaining the LONG story yet again to another agent only to get the message "She tried multiple times to call you and you didn't answer." yet again. She then proceeded to tell me "She wanted to notify you that the reissued check was sent". Um it was supposedly reissued and sent the 15th so this is what she called about? Why couldn't she have said "the check was sent out" in the voicemail? I am sooooo over this company! Will call the postmaster again and follow up with him again and be sure they are watching for it. Taxes are friday. I'm praying the check comes before that. We really need to close this trust. It's absolutely insane that I've spent hours and hours over 6 months trying to get everyone in the trust well under $100. I pray it's over soon.
Cows are doing great today so far. 4 of the 5 calves are doing great still today. 1 who was the sickest all along is going down hill again so he got more meds. He's continuing to over eat. "Mom" is still kicking one calf off (not the sick calf). He hasn't figure out if he nurses when the others are nursing he will be fine. So I had to tie her to her milking spot again. Then she will let him nurse. After a few minutes I can then untie her and she's fine with him. So we aren't quite there yet to get out on pasture but closer every day it seems. Ordered more herbal remedies to restock. They are so useful for more minor issues. Want to be sure we have plenty in stock. Oh and yahoo!! New 2 1/2 gallon (it doesn't take that much cream for making butter) came today so I can do more at one time. That will be a game changer. Especially with multiple cows in milk. It's getting to be an all day thing at this point (well night) to make all the butter we have cream for. With another heifer coming due in another month it will get out of control. One more thing to move but a time saver so we did it.
Freeze drier load is ready to be put up. Glad to be getting back to that and clearing out the freezers a bit more. 2 trays of chicken meat, 1 tray of pears and one tray of mexican rice. Next will be a few loads at least of stock. Have several more packages of stock waiting in the freezer that isn't even on trays yet. If I can get caught up on that stuff I'll start cooking more meat etc and make some more MRE's for moving. The more freezer space I can create the better. Still have 3 goats to process and a group of layers that will wait till closer to the end of our move. Progress is good.
Sounds like everyone is surviving the cold ok. Praying everyone stays safe in the ice. Have a great afternoon!

Gee, i keep trying to skip to the part when the weather thaws for everyone and the wave slowly works its way over to me but it's not here yet! Hurry up, lol.
