Coffee anyone ?

I have some wonderful news...daughter and family will be moving away from Chicago at the end of May!
:yesss:

This has been a long time coming, and an answer to prayer. It's become increasingly dangerous to live there.

First stop will be to stay a few weeks with my sister in central western Illinois. Next stop is an apartment they've rented nearby. Move in date is July 12. Eventually they will probably move to eastern TN.

DSIL has given up on a transfer to another airport, he's going to retire early. Of course TSA HR isn't working, so DD and DSIL are doing this on faith.

I am so happy they will be getting out of 💩-cago. DSIL is a native, he's a little sad.

Once your DSIL gets out and they find somewhere "nice" to live... he will wonder why it took him so long. There will always be things that he will miss because it was home.... but it will be missed in memory and the reality is different. I was born and raised in Conn ...a REAL LIVE FULL BLOODED YANKEE.....mom's family came over on the Mayflower ... and some of father's blood goes back to the Mohicans .... or Mohawks... as they often fought against each other back in the early 1600's...... so there is some discrepancy......and there are things I remember that i miss... but the reality when I go back makes me SOOOOO GLAD to come back HOME to the south.....
I am sure if he wants to work at another airport, once he gets moved somewhere, he will be able to go do some applying and find a job... but by then he might like the "less stress lifestyle" of being retired... he might want to find a job to occupy himself and bring in extra income ..... but his taking a "break" for a bit is good.

@Weldman we're missing & thinking about you 💞

Finally, a day at home! It's been a grueling week. I'm my own enemy. Terrible restless night. I have a very short list of things to do today and none of it includes any lifting or ladder climbs! 😵‍💫 Will walk in the pastures, make a short visit with DD -- haven't seen her in 3 weeks & we live on same farm! Will cook some late this afternoon...plus regular laundry & clean inside. Yep, a slow day. Resting. Looking.

Will be sure to check Emma, the "needs to kid" doe. See how that's going and play with the other kids out there, growing wildly. A couple got or needed a good amount of my attention at birth, so super friendly. All doeling except one, Rocky. He's great after a rough start. I'll need to castrate soon...gotta check those balls today 🫣 and plan the deed.

Right now, the coffee. Sunny out & mid 70s suggested. It'll be a nice day. Might even mow the yard.

Oh, yes. I know about Connecticut. Raised/childhood, married, had children there. Cost of living skyrocketed, rents crazy high, so we moved to SC. I was a Damn Yankee for a short while, then realized that The South was where I fit, and I went along with the culture. Wound up in eastern NC almost 30 years ago, have no interest in ever leaving, and certainly not to go back to CT. I was there last August, SIL funeral, nothing there tempts me to stay, but I did appreciate the old houses.

ETA: not a brag, but my mom's family was traced back to the Mayflower, too, to William Brewster, but that's just the English portion. There's French, Irish, and Welsh on her side, as well. We located my great great something grandfather's stone in Plainfield, CT. He wasn't a coal miner, but a saddle maker from Wales, 1700s. No Indian heritage, but Ron was 1/8th, was told Iroquois and Seneca. Neat stuff.

It's Sunday, which means laundry day. Brain can not process doing laundry any other day.
Going to go feed chickens before church, then head over to church. We got a ton of rain yesterday, we need every bit of rain we can get.
Countdown is on for Yellowstone reopening, only have until Friday. I suspect there will be more guests at church today. Town is beginning to reopen after the long winter.
Should probably head out the door if I want to get chickens fed now.

Mom's family name is Wadhams... founding name on a town in CT and family history goes back to some minor lord or duke in the 10-1100's.... I never kept up with it much... sad that mom is gone and the work that her father did to trace it, is who knows where, when their house was emptied and dismantled after their deaths. No one else cared at all... and I was not there for some of the cleaning out and throwing away of everything...

@fuzzi your DSIL -- the things he will miss pizza, hot dogs, Carson's Ribs, maybe Hackney's. Pizza, good Chicago hotdogs (Portillo's) and Carson's Ribs can all be ordered online and shipped - a bit pricey but worth it on occasion. LOL Usually rare occasions. Pizza places (Lou Malnati's, Nancy's Stuffed Pizza, etc) have sales a few times a year.
We left the 'burbs there in '89. Trips back (few) and it's a whole new world and not in a good way.
OH and @farmerjan & @fuzzi I was told by my mother her family came over on the Mayflower - name Howard.
