Maybe a microburst?? Whatever it was, it was something BIG! Even hurricanes don't blow out skyscraper windows do they?

Not a microburst. This was sustained winds that started west of Houston, blew through downtown, moved east, went to Baytown, across Trinity Bay, hit Anahuac and went through Louisiana. Winds were equal to a Catagory 1 hurricane, but not a hurricane.

Well TX is getting more than it's share of "blow, burn, wash me away". That's incredible, the amount of weather disaster going on. It's all been in a short time, too. Plus record number of tornados up tornado alley and surrounds recent, too. Sure spreads needed resources and help thin. It'll take years to overcome these situations. The trickle down will affect everyone to a degree. From road work, building supplies, fallow fields of hay, food ...

In my tiny part of the world, I'm hoping hurricane season is going on vacation this year! We've been lucky for 2 yrs now.

Today's weather is lovely! So will do all I can outside before the rains revisit tomorrow before daybreak & stay thru Sunday.

It's interesting the winds hit up to 80 something MPH at peak and sustained around 70 something MPH for a few hours or less in SE Texas and the world is falling apart, but when winds rip through here for 3 days straight, its as if just another day out here.
I tell you what it is, it's build to minimum codes and call it good. That's what aggravated me about Texas. Hurricane after hurricane living down there and each time the news rolls through of the crying families who lost it all with the destruction, if I was high enough politician or whoever implements building codes I would up it on par with Miami-Dade building codes. Yes it's going to cost more to build a structure to make those building codes, but what is cheaper, that or higher taxes cause we have to use emergency funds to help devastated families, high insurance rates or rebuilding your home again. Buy once, cry once as the saying goes, costs twice as much if you take short cuts.

Good morning all. Honey in my coffee today. I’m further north than Baymule so I haven’t had the rain or wind. Grass is growing like crazy. We bought a tractor. Probably not a tractor by the standards here, John Deere 4110. Reasonably priced, low hours and well taken care of. Bucket, box blade and mower too. It will make gardening, barn clean out etc much easier. I’m going to container garden, the soil here is too sandy and rocky. Where there is any decent soil is covered in Bermuda grass, not the helpful hay kind but the pox on humanity stuff planted by misguided souls who wanted monoculture lawns for croquet or some such (cue the balls for it joke). Anyhow I’ve surrendered to the mighty stolon empire- it’s containers for me. I suspect my back will thank me. Have a good day everyone

JD 4110 is nothing to be ashamed of... What is the HP? Ran a 4020 for years on a dairy when I was younger... I use a ford 4400 for all the tedding and raking on the farm so not alot bigger.... Front end loader is a LIFESAVER for so much. Have a small Massey Ferguson we use for the manure spreader... spreader is twice the size but don't need alot of HP to run the pto on the spreader; used it for the tedder even...

Congrats on the tractor purchase.

Coffee is ready. Watching Houston news. Downtown skyscrapers had those big plates of glass blown off. Traffic lights were blown off the wires. Streets are closed, mayor is telling people to stay home

Fantastic!! Doesn't matter the size - it's a TRACTOR and the right size for you .
You'll love it. I've got a Kubota 3902 - it does everything I need - then of course there's
always tractor envy liking those other bigger tractors, but ya' know those big ones can't always get into
the smaller areas quite as easily.
Enjoy your tractor - we all love the time spend on our tractors.

Morning y’all. No rain today! But it’s white with fog outside. Pandora’s Box has been opened and biting flies and gnats are whooping it up. I wear a long sleeve denim shirt over my tshirt to keep the gnats off. They have chewed up my face, they are horrible. I was told about a mosquito net thing for covering one’s head, you wear it over a cap. I had no idea! I got one yesterday, put on a cap, put the net on my head and scared the crap out of the dogs. While I did chores, gnats crawled over the net looking for a way in, but to no avail. I am delighted. My face is grateful.
