I was thinking the ban on slaughter houses was/ is part of the "animals are people too" and the "we must all be vegan" movements.

Both seem some of today's "thought groups"....for lack of better name. I am not vegan but, do advocate for humane treatment in animal handling from birth to end of life. But I see no way meat products will disappear.

I'm against these feedlots they run around here, that can't be healthy. On the same note not packing them like sardines like they do it gives me hope with less animals in a square footage one could run bison out here and still make a profit despite feeding them hay year around.Both seem some of today's "thought groups"....for lack of better name. Snow is still on the ground pretty packed in, maybe melt all today with clear skies and highs in mid 50's, if not maybe tomorrow. Went to get my truck from the stealership after replacing parts under warranty and I didn't even leave the parking lot before something else broke. Poor wife had to turn back around and come get me. This is why I will never buy another used truck again, need to park this one after fixed, put it up for sale and buy a new one. I thought buying from actual Ford dealership would be higher quality selection on used vehicles, nope just even more crooked.

Coffee is ready. I stayed up nearly all night watching election results Tuesday night. Then I fell asleep in my recliner early last night and woke up, then couldn’t go to sleep until after midnight. I’ve got to go to bed tonight at a regular time. This morning I didn’t know what day it is. Oops. I missed church last night!

Morning all. Foggy and mid sixties. Saw a doe just outside the front yard, about 300 feet. Water and cover there. I wonder about all the boneless, skinless chicken I see at the store. In the age of 3D printing who knows what can be done? The feedlot topic reminds me of something I saw on the RFD tv about spaying heifers. The process is being simplified and is garnering interest. Anyone know anything about it?

On second cup. Got a full night's sleep (Tuesday night I didn't stay up like @Baymule - but woke every 15-30 minutes to check the count). While I didn't get all I wanted done yesterday (the catch up list is huge), I did get all the lambs remarked with the crayons to match up to mamas, and got each and every one of the into my records - YAY.
LOL - putting them away last night - at less than a week old they are all hooligans. All the lambs - ALL of them ran out into the turn out pasture and the mamas ran to the barn corral. Umm - no little lambies, as cute as you are you can not spend the night out there. Thank God for Obi, he had a big ol smile on his face when I sent him to gather that crew up.
Got them all sorted into the right stalls, and hmmmm, missing one. No, no, umm not quite. One lamb in the wrong stall. SO glad I had refreshed the marking I was able to match up to the right mama and moved her in with her lamb.
So many white or almost white it's not as easy telling them apart. Waiting for the spray paint to give "numbers", that should last longer than crayon. Ear tags are next on the agenda - but that wouldn't have helped in the dark and the number doesn't pair to the ewe.
I ~think fall is here - temps in the last few mornings are in the 40s! Last night a cold Santa Ana started blowing. BRRR.
Once I'm caught up, if the cool temps keep up, grazing resumes!! YAY!!!!!

Coffee is ready! Today is the Ladies 50’s lunch at our favorite Mexican restaurant in Lufkin. Only one waiter waits on us, he’s the only one who can keep it all straight. There may be 20-30 of us and we tip well. There is gratuity added to our receipt, but we give him a cash tip on top of that. He takes our order, drinks first, then food, we get plenty of chips and salsa. We eat, visit and have a good time.

I take pictures, too. BUT Saanen are white or very light cream....it's a challenge with 10 white moms & 20 white babes! 
Even with colored bucks, often the white is dominate. I love a marking -- any marking
. This year, to add confusion, I've had the kids change color 
What began as a few colored roany hairs developed into an overall blanket on their back pattern. Then, some of them faded from dark to much lighter. It was only with the Saanen/Boer mixed. A feature of "dappled" coloring.
The spotteds didn't change much at all, none of the full Boer spotteds changed. Yeah, pretty odd. I have a couple full Boer that have developed "extra" colored spotting that are sired by a dappled Boer. That's not unusual with dapples but, their heavy spotting remains in tact, just gets roany spots added.

Beyond that ----- weather is gorgeous. The cold front arrived, no rain. (37 days no rain!) Low 70 right now and I'm home all day. Chores done, having coffee & this morning social time. I appreciate the interaction

With all that was going on I only managed pics. Sad I know - but it did save me in being sure. That and the quick posts here
. LOL I didn't plan on puppies and lambs together, and especially not puppies going home and lambing at the same time! Ewes, they maka you crazy. But it was really good for the pup owners to see newborns and also how well Obi and Zo handle them. And newbie me always learning from everyone here.
