Happy Sunday morning! Coffee is ready. Hot 5” of rain Friday evening, pretty soggy here. Went to a bluegrass festival in Nacogdoches yesterday, it was fun. Today after church I’m going to visit friends.

Good to hear that you're having some time off from chicken and sheep chores.

You should have seen @farmerjan gently educating a young man who knew everything about Cornish cross. He was selling Bresse.

Between the travel and the heat I was really tired last night. After checking on my flocks and briefly checking the vegetable gardens I came inside, watched the Kentucky Derby, and was in bed by 9! I slept soundly almost nine hours with just one brief break.
Now I am brewing coffee and listening to the sound of thunder, rain, which we need, badly!

I’m done with chicken chores. I would have loved to see farmerjan in action! LOL

We were saying under our breath "Stop arguing, she knows more than you."

Besides, you don't debate while potential customers are standing around. Even I know that!

Same here...to bed early, slept soundly, up for a fresh pot of coffee AND listening to the rain!

I did an animal check shortly after getting home yesterday. Momma hen had her 5 chicks out walking, getting lessons in "scratch & peck", talking as she went . At dusk I went to check & she had them all cuddled under her, back in "their" nest. So cute!

Today will be mostly slow & inside -- rains off/on today. Back to work Mon-Thur. Friday sort & pen goats -- harder to do than say ... Set up to load for Sat morn, then off to auction Saturday.

Full week. Looks like a little slack for following week

Glad I looked outside the window at the ponds, noticed that the rain barrel overflow hose was emptying into the pond. And I thought "Did I reconnect that to the overflow at the top of the barrel?"


Put on my mud shoes and hat, went outside and discovered that I still had the hose attached to the bottom faucet of the overflow barrel, and it was open!

Fixed now. And I heard the satisfying sound of water pouring inside the second barrel, filling up.

High of 86°F today, little sore from what was supposed to be simple pull a door out from a manufactured house and put one in to we need to raise the door height to oh BTW I need to pick your house up and level it out some. Within 9 hours all was done and door put in. Made more in one day doing that than a week turning wrenches, sad, very sad. Pushing it harder to get that service bed done as I wait for injection pump to get rebuilt.
