Feral pigs! Wow, they're so "everywhere" now. Do so much destruction when uncontrolled. Many states are funding catches, hunts, etc. They multiply fast, have few predatory controllers and will kill & consume them. 😱🤷😖 A 22 works well.

Right now, my area hasn't seemed to victims. 👍 But I'd sure shoot them if seen.

The saying here is a feral sow has a dozen piglets and 18 survive. I didn’t see them but I’ll bet it’s the big red sow I saw about this time two years ago with her now grown brood. She looks like an escaped domestic, her piglets varied. She was being pursued by two boars who had the typical wild boar look. Hubbs will be all set to drag out the hog trap tonight. Probably catch Caddo at the rate he gets out

I worry about that without a trap involved. We have a lot of heavy underbrush. If he blundered into a family group it could get ugly if he got cornered. Presently he’s on yard duty with a hot wire. The hogs have a trail about 200 yards from the house in the heavy brush. They stop by the pond for a drink around 2:30a. Then they forage the flood plain stopping off at the hay barn for a beer with Sasquatch (who I wish would develop a taste for ribs or chops or sausages). Then they all wave so long to Elvis who’s departing in a saucer with a few greys, who (dang it) have convinced the king to become a vegan. Vegans from the Vega system. Just my luck no card carrying carnivores.

We have "domestic hog problems".... DS got a little pushy with the guy next to the rental house down at the farm near GF..... and on top of that GF told me that they started out with 11 or 12... and are down to 7... coyotes getting them??? I mean,,, the da#@ed things are worth $50-100 a head... why not at least sell them?????
There are ferals down in the southwest area of VA.....they come here, they will get shot as fast as I can see them....

Feral hogs provide a lot of free meat! But the old ones, especially boars get dragged out for the buzzards. Lots of folks around here trap and or shoot them for freezer meat. One of my new neighbors wants to set up a trap and asked me to help him slaughter any that he catches. I sure will! I’m thinking about setting up a trap in the fall on my back field. I gave away a lot of meat and people sure appreciated it.

My picky dogs turn up their noses at the meat. They want chicken. I thought I had a never ending supply of meat for them but NOOOOOO! Maybe when I get more feral hog, I’ll can chunks with chicken and maybe fool them. Chickog meat!

Coffee is ready, going for second cup. Got to get going this morning, meeting oldest granddaughter and daughter at my sister’s house to take #2and3 back to their mom. Then back home, fuel up truck, check air in tires, check oil, hitch trailer, sort out ram lambs, neighbor Chase is coming over at 5, to help me load 4 ram lambs and 8 ewe lambs. Going to auction in Emory, 3 hours drive, in the morning.

Wow! Dogs howling! Coyotes must be close!

It’s RAINING IN CENTRAL TEXAS!!

Drought has been terrible in central Texas. Lakes that supply city water have been puddles. Lake Travis is down by some 35 feet. Canyon Lake is almost dry. The aquifers are low, wells have dried up. It’s beyond critical. And a STORM is dumping RAIN!!
