It’s RAINING IN CENTRAL TEXAS!!

Drought has been terrible in central Texas. Lakes that supply city water have been puddles. Lake Travis is down by some 35 feet. Canyon Lake is almost dry. The aquifers are low, wells have dried up. It’s beyond critical. And a STORM is dumping RAIN!!

Fen came in to wake me this morning. He takes the opportunity when he finds it to beg cookies without Boone around. He wanted to do the “happy hiney” but I couldn’t reach. Lot of stiff this morning (probly early onset rigormortis) so I followed him out of the bedroom and found a live tick on him NEXT TO HIS SERESTO COLLAR! I’ve never had ticks on my dogs with the collar before. So I grabbed my key ring with the de-ticker on it and got it off , found something to stick him with and burned him over the gas stove. I think there’s another on his neck but he escaped outside with Boone. Fen still has a lot of undercoat so I guess we will work on that at lunch. No coffee yet. Don’t have it in me to get to kitchen again. Maybe Randy will make me a cup when he wakes up. He’s good to me that way.
Oops! I dozed off. Dreamt I was painting the bathroom and my phone tipped out of my hand and woke me. Thought it was a can of paint

It's rain here, again, more, light but wet. Surely not enough to fill a lake! We've gotten almost 4" over past 5 or so days. To be continued another day.
Most farmers got corn in early in month, it's zooming! But wet fields now, so idle tractors.

So far -- and it's early -- my still recuperating shoulder is only slightly complaining about yesterday's fence repairs. Good. Because the post poundings hurt. Soft dirt helped tho So badly need to run these 4 rolls of goat fence!! Between weather, work & tractor repairs, it seems impossible to align the job. Confident it will be soon!!

The monthly auction is mid June. Yes a few will go there but, not because of yesterday. Some kids are ready and a couple to cull/reduce to keep a replacement. Normal rotation of livestock. It's why they're here...breed to sell (& bring in milk for dairy).

Yesterday's job work got moved around. Best part of job.

Ticks - ugh. snagged one crawling on a student's dog's ear. Crushed it.
Up early worked Sage (loading dock search in town), back to take care of sheep. Sun's up and the temp is climbing fast. 3 weather aps, three different forecast highs - 82-91. All higher than predicted yesterday afternoon by at least 10 degrees. Weed whacking can wait with those temps whatever they'll be .

Slept late, I needed it. I'm not sleeping well which I attribute to the stress at work.

Coffee. Errands. Found a small dog crate at a local thrift store, could be used for a broody bantam.

Sprinkles on and off, but barely moistened the grass, so I mowed. Overheated myself, but I got the front yard done, including some of the slope. Whew.

The ditch is too wet to do, it will have to wait.

Just came in from milking & collecting eggs. Worked jobs all day, 2 stores. Goats were all still inside fences Time to rest up. Thinking early to bed. TGIF
