Still waiting on that culvert, supposed to have been here day before yesterday. First excuse, need to build a cradle for it, next one was they are on their way at 0900 hrs when they claimed to be here by 0800 hrs, now they had to switch trailers and can only do 45 mph. Doesn't take 3 days to do a 4 hour journey, they have faster means of moving things since the mule and cart days.
High of 100°F again yippee! This summer is mild compared to 2021

I just read a little bit ago (last week-ish? Drovers Daily?) that they were going to allow it again. At the time I thought it was too early (and personally don't want it - imports of avocados destroyed the avocado industry here). Glad to see it has changed (based on the dateline) but not glad to see there are new cases in Mexico.

I’m on my first cup of coffee, slept late. I got home at 6:45 yesterday, I’m tired. I’m out of dog food, milk, and need to check on new tires for my car. They are down to the wear bar and I’m wearing that down. I’ll go to Discount Tire and put them on their credit card, 6 months same as cash.
New tires - no fun but needed. Just last week we got a round of 4 new ones for my van (aka dogmobile) -- after the blowout earlier this year we replaced two tires - the blowout and another with an ominous bulge. DH didn't think to have them balanced - ahhh not good. Two tires were worn down to the steel belts. :duc

But - told him to keep the oldies -- thinking I can use them somewhere, if for nothing else they can be planters. Any other ideas? Oh and brining them home saved $3/tire.

I would rather pay the $3 than keep old tires. They do have their uses, but I think they are more of an eyesore and I already have plenty of those. About the only place , to me, they look appropriate is a tractor tire half buried in a goat pen for them to play on.

Tires can be used to stop erosion by building a retaining wall with them. Filled with dirt, rebar stakes driven in, stacked up, they aren’t going anywhere.

Potato planters, chicken nests, lots of things. I have one that I use in the winter to hold a rubber watering tub.

The border had already been closed. They had scheduled some limited reopening, announced late Tuesday... then all of a sudden they had a new report on Wed???? There are some shenanigans going on here... and it was discussed with some very knowledgeable cattle people on Corbitt Wall's program DV Auction Feeder report.
They need to leave it closed ... and with this new reporting nearly half the distance of the last one that closed the border back in May/June... now 360 miles south of the US border as opposed to the 700 miles south when it was first closed...
There used to be a sterile fly facility in the US back in the 60's-70's when we had the infestation and it was over 10 years to eradicate this pest in the US. Closed down after they deemed it not needed. NWSW was pushed back down into Central America below the panama canal "neck".....called the Darien Barrier.... So the new "state of the art" facility will be a plus.. and will help to eventually provide more of these sterile flys to stop the reproduction in Mexico also... BUT... there were some cattle imported into Mexico from Nicaragua....within the last week or so..... LIKE REALLY... South America has this NWSW (new world screw worm) everywhere...

POLITICS and BS down in Mexico....

This will keep our beef cattle prices high for awhile...

Various portions of a southern storm breaking up came up from Carolinas to VA. How much & where was a little bit of a guess. Originally I was looking at maybe half inch....winds changed & here came a cell of heavy, hard stuff. Yeah 2.5" 🙄 yesterday was off & on rains -- hr of rain, couple hrs sunshine, then more rain. Rather odd....look one way blue skies, turn other way, black ones. 🤔 No grass mowed.

Right now, overcast & no rain suggested, humid. Thankful for cooler & light breeze. My goats are wanting dry grass -- not happening. I'd like it, too.

Complaining? Well, sorta. Based on flood news elsewhere, shame on me!! But tomorrow is goat auction & I'll need to wrangle some young, opinionated bucklings in tall, wet grass later today. I see a rodeo of sorts 😄
