Coffee is ready. I didn’t put the pot under the drip and got to clean up the mess. Oops.
Church this morning, funeral at 2:00. One of the older ladies passed away in her sleep. Not a bad way to go. Matriarch of a large family, her descendants fill up 2-3 rows at church.

Tomorrow a tree guy is coming to take down a huge dead oak. 2 people can’t reach around it. The top blew out last year, limbs are always falling, they are as big around as me. Lots of wire in it from 3 generations using it as a living fence post. I told Domingo to cut it high so he didn’t tear up his chain saw. He brings out a bucket truck to take the limbs off. Trio is on 2 fence lines, 1 is outer parameter fence, I don’t want it falling on the fence. Price: $600. But I’m swapping him a ram lamb at $250, only paying $350. He’s the same man that cut most of the dead trees here when I bought the place. We did some trading then for Uno, the first lamb born here, a beautiful Ram.

Had a week of 70s, then 3 days of 89-91 -- to remind us of summer😖 -- today back to a high of 68 :idunno plus some rain last night. It's iffy weather time.

With the heat yesterday, I stayed inside with AC. Been wanting brownies. Maybe today since it's cool enough to open windows again & use the oven 😃

Coffee tasting almost normal, I'm happy.

Front came through, parted like the Red Sea, leaving us with dry ground. It's not funny, grass is flat, turning yellow, almost to crunchy stage. I'm keeping my flowers watered, but am to the point of soaking the shrubs and trees. Yesterday I watered most of the blueberry bushes, both elderberry trees, too. My big gardenia is developing yellow leaves, will be hose soaking that and other shrubs this afternoon after church.

This was knee-deep yesterday before DS mowed...

It's green past the white fences because that's where the gray water line leaks, kitchen sink and washing machine discharge only. I transplanted some wetland/pond plants to the spot, and they're thriving.

Time to get ready for church...

Wow. Didn't realize you were as dry as us.

We got LUCKY...BLESSED... last night. We got some rain... Looks about .3 or so in the rain gauge... I will go out and check here shortly. Not as much as we need but it was a nice drink for everything..... at least it was enough to do more than get the grass wet like the other day.
I read for awhile last night and didn't go to sleep very early so am very S...L....O...W... getting going this morning.. I fed the turkeys and chickens last night and did their waterers after I came back from checking the heifers.
One thing I didn't do was put the mower in, so it got a rain water wash job... Not ideal but it won't destroy it... If that is what it takes to get some rain, I will gladly do that again... I did not mow last evening like I planned.

I used to run a flexible pipe out the window in the house I used to live in, that had a cistern, and use the washing machine water to water the lawn and all. Figured it was mostly dirt and cow manure etc... ought to be good for the ground...!!!!!

Gosh, everywhere is feeling it. We got about two days of rain last week that really helped things, but the smoke rolled back in Friday.
I had intentions of getting up to run today, but my body seemed to know that it is Sunday. Slept till 7.
Church in a bit, then I'll run afterwards. High now in the 70's, fall is here.

The saying around here is, "if you don't like the weather, stick around 5 minutes and it will change"...lol. Checked the weather yesterday, was supposed to be calm and beautiful until Monday. We'll now we're supposed to have some wind, not strong for this area only 10-15mph, but it's also calling for scattered thunderstorms. Hope there's plenty of rain with it and it doesn't set off anymore fires. Last I checked there were 12 active fires burning in WA. The air quality has been pretty bad.
Will be going up to spend time with our friends again today.
Have a lovely day! 💗
