Cool temps & hot coffee here. Overcast out. Makes for a slow morning. I need a jump start ! Even the animals are just looking around with a "not interested" attitude. Think we had some light sprinkles overnight. The air is wet feeling & grass is definitely wet. Wet & cool not a good combo.
We did get rain sprinkles last night, we need more!
Coffee at work, finished the call schedules through December, can't do any for 2026 because the PTB haven't created the faculty schedules
Now I'm working on next week's interview schedules, waiting for the forms I requested from the candidates back in August to be returned to me. I'm not impressed.
I'm trying to get as much done as I can before I retire, but I'm stymied by lack of response.
We had a fun day yesterday boating and fishing on the Columbia River. Took a few pictures to share.
Above Priest Rapids Dam.
Looking up river toward what we call the gap.
Approximately 18 miles up river, we are now below Wanapum Dam.
Looking down river from Wanapum Dam, is the gap again. You can also see an old railroad bridge. It's over 100 years old. They turned it into part of what used to be called the John Wayne Trail, now the Palouse to Cascades Trail (I think that's what they changed it to). When they were working on it, they accidentally dropped some of the 100 year old ties into the river. We found one when we were boating and brought it home. Pretty cool piece of history. Dale's planning on using it for a corner fence post. Not sure when that will happen.
He caught 6 bass trolling by the rocks on the right. I'm the boat driver. I fish too, but didn't buy a license this year.
My husband worked at both dams. He was the foreman at Priest for at least 12 years and at Wanapum for maybe 5 years. He retired after working on the dams for 35 years.
Time for tea and then a lot of chores today. That's what we get for having fun yesterday lol.
The bottom element in the water heater went out, we need to drain it, clean out any sediment and replace it. This tank is 30 years old. We've only replaced one other element. We will eventually need to buy a new one, but we will keep this going as long as we can.
Household hu-hu today. Medical bill arrived along with Medicare. Both larger than expected. We have it covered but Hubbs and I both need to up our bookkeeping game. Beautiful weather today, frisky dog weather. Lows in the 60’s highs in the 90’s and little humidity. Have a good day everyone
Taking advantage of coolness. Put a meatloaf in the oven. First time I've used it in months. With just one smallish pan, it looked sooo empty. Fixed that with a BIG pan of brownies -- double batch and a potato to bake. Veggies ya know.
