Morning all. Speaking of chicken I think I heard clucking in the underbrush by the barn and possibly peeps. Could my last hen be alive and raising a family? She’s done it before. She’s close enough to the fence to benefit from Moses’ presence. There’s heavy dew every morning so she has water and plenty of insects and seeds. Maybe that’s why Caddo is digging out so often. We’re on sand- deep red when freshly dug that bleaches to tan- and keeping the holes filled is a job.

I live in the land of perpetual predation. And shockingly, I think twice I had a hen somehow sneak out and successfully raise a brood.

Our bantams free ranged. Every once in awhile, one would disappear and much later pop back out with chicks in tow...

You can see the pavilion from the 1974 Worlds Fair, in the back right corner. It is lit at night. Hubs was able to go to the fair. Would have been such a cool thing to see.

This is a launch for river rafts.

We rode about 12 miles. Our bikes are electric, so it makes it doable, especially if you don't ride every day.

Yesterday was long but fun. That "chicken swap" has become a giant yard sale Crowded. Really, a 2-day event for a shopper. I bought 1/2 bushel of apples. Yep, my milking doe demands (&deserves) an apple cut into her grain at milking. Plus, I'll prob make an apple pie. They were decent priced compared to store right now. Didn't even ask for discount.

Fun to get a short visit with other BYHers. Plus a day away from home lives. Now, my roos are crowing. They'll be looking for me once daylight gets here. Time for my own wake up needs first.

On first cup of coffee. Went to county fair yesterday evening to watch live music. The fair was rocking! Livestock auction of the animal entries, carnival rides, vendors of all sorts of crafts, delicious smells of food and cops everywhere to squelch anyone that got stupid. A young woman was dancing by herself, having a good time until she jumped on stage. One of my friends and another man quickly got her off, police showed up and she got some shiny bracelets. Now I’m tired, slept late, got to hustle through morning chores and get to church. Charlie Kirk Memorial is this afternoon at 1:00 Central time and my butt is going to be parked in my recliner to watch it.

Me and the wife are going to a event today "Farmer Veteran Coalition" and there is a chapter here in Montana I'm a member of, well this one ranch we are going to have Highland Cattle 4 hours up the road. Our first non work related trip in about 5 years.
