@Baymule :celebratefor your rain!!!!! You desperately needed it.
Rain expected here tonight -- not that much. 1/2"?

Taking a break...unplanned.

I'm doing some maintenance repairs in a chicken coop I want to put several in tonight. Outside was going along ok, then inside & I see a couple wasp getting close. I calmly looked up & see a nest about 4" across & covered. Slipped on out & got wasp spray. Seemed like a good idea to me -- the few flying did NOT agree. I flew out. What an attitude they have!! Now I'm not sure they'll settle for me to finish. Dang, I sure hope so. I'm not wanting stung. I'll do something else for an hr 🤞

Glad you didn't get stung. Those suckers can be relentless.

I usually spray at dawn, when it is cool & they're all huddled on it.... Didn't see it until later. Finished what I needed to do, except shavings. Bag is there at the door....Can't get ckns until later....I'll spray that nest again....and cut the bag of shavings, dump it. They can play in them tmrw.

I’ve had luck taking a plastic grocery bag and filling it with other grocery bags or anything that will help it hold a rounded shape. Tie off the top. Take a marker and scribble hornet like shapes all over bag. Inspirational messages also ok. Hang it in the area wasps favor. Hopefully they mistake it for a hornet’s nest and move on. I needed to spray existing nests but the bags deterred reinfests.

Pull off a wasp nest???? Covered in wasps? Not me! Nope...spray from 10-15' away. Generally not a problem.

I did get the pullets moved at dusk, as they went to roost. Left them on roost in their newly assigned coop -- instead of the recent idea to use the porch or my tractor😠. But after coming inside I began thinking -- didn't see my other legbar hens in the barn where 3 pullets were 🤔😵‍💫 That kept me half awake all night. Did I miss seeing them? Were they roosting elsewhere? Something happen to them? Got up at 4 as couldn't sleep. Waiting for daylight 😶

Moved 8 total. 5 I'd incubate hatched, 3 hen raised.

Going for second cup of coffee. Still have sore throat and stuffy head, but no fever. It's 58 degrees, high today of 88. Perfect weather, I should be outside playing it it. Phooey. I'm trying to take it easy and get well. I slept late. Son and I went to Livingston yesterday evening to favorite Italian restaurant, it's only an hour away. He ordered my sister in law's favorite and we took it to her and visited awhile. Got home after 9.
