Heading to town with a friend today. She's moving to OK,. I'm taking her out to lunch to say goodbye. I'm hoping I'll be able to see her when we go to visit our grandbaby's.

I quit having candy because haven't had any T& T kids in years at the last 3 places I lived in 20 years... Country roads, not many houses... Oh well... around here the kids go to the subdivisons with lots of houses and they "tout" being good places for trick and treaters.... Plus so many places now have "Trunk and Treat" get togethers...

O my second cup. I got my new phone yesterday! Have to be at SIL at 9:15 to take her to therapy. Pick up her grocery order, maybe squeeze in activating my new phone, and turn in my old one.

Not a new phone!!! Eeeeek!

Eh....i dunno about the trick or treaters.... and the state of the world... I don't think that is it at all.

I rather think it is where you are? As a kid in Texas, Halloween was never a big thing! You went to haunted houses, and special subdivisions that handed out candy... and outside of those areas there was nothing. Even in the city in subdivisions with packed houses, if you knocked on a door that wasn't in a "trick or treat" neighborhood, the people answering the door would be super confused as to why you were there. (Yep... I did that. People ASKED WHY I was dressed up!!!)

In Maryland (50 years ago) Halloween was HUGE. Everyone had candy at their house, and if they didn't, come morning their house would be covered in TP, or eggs, or Q-tips, or all three. And ALL AGES participated. Adults had fancy adult parties, teens and young adults would spend insane amounts of time figuring out matching costumes, and then of course the little kids.

And if you were at a party and not home, you left a huge sign on the door, saying "We are not home, we are leaving this huge bowl of candy, please only take one each". And if you didn't do that, then yes your house would get egged or whatever.

We stayed in our own neighborhoods, where the neighbors knew us.

I'm in an older neighborhood (1970), 1/4-1/3 acre lots, but there are no small children. Everyone here is 40 and up.

Ran across this in a box of books we've had in a shed for at least 18 years lol! Would anybody like it? Not sure where it came from, but I vaguely remember it.
