Good afternoon all!
Been raining all day. Another inch in the gauge. Pastures are flowing quite a bit. Lots of flooding. Everyone seems to be doing well so far at least. Good news is the animals are all putting on more winter coat than normal. They are prepping for their move too. :fl
Having a cup of coffee while checking the forums. Have a delivery between 5-9pm we're waiting on. It's really annoying when companies charge for delivery guarantee's then without telling the buyer there's a mandatory signature upon delivery. Then why did I pay so much for the delivery coverage/guarantee. Package was delayed due to an unreadable label. Happens all the time now. Usually shows up with the original label so it must just be an excuse. Due to our schedule I had to pay more to schedule a delivery time. So we have a delivery time of 5-9pm tonight. At least the package won't be sitting in the pouring rain. Feel bad having the delivery driver come that late on a sunday. Hopefully it arrives safely.
Sounds like everyone is having a pretty good weekend so far. @farmerjan I hope you feel better very soon.

Well, it didn't take long for my husband to decide that he was going to build our custom bathroom cabinet, plus the new built in dresser in our bedroom. I asked him about the vanity, he still hasn't decided if he will build it or have it built. We save so much money and he's such an amazing craftsman that it's hard to have someone else build them. But, it takes so much longer, (the older we get the slower we get...lol) I don't want him to be a slave to it. We will be painting them, so we will also have to set up a spray painting room. By the time we're done with the above projects, he will probably be sick of cabinet building and decide it's worth the extra expense to hire someone to build the vanity. Time will tell.

Well the battle is over. -Warning some graphic symptom descriptions.-
Lamb took some dilute cow’s milk this afternoon. Feces soft but in the range of normal. No wild fluid loss. Late afternoon convulsions briefly then clear fluid from mouth. Death followed. I’ve had good results with powdered formula through the years. Better luck with Baymule’s. Had no milk in the house, we don’t drink it but I should have for lambing. Hubbs thinks it was a cumulative reaction to being abandoned by mom for 6-8 hours. He had teeth maybe she said “enough!” after a nurse or two. He was perky when found and hit the bottle like a champ. Damn I hate to lose a lamb but as one of James Herriott’s clients was quoted “Thems as has em are the ones who lose em”.

@Blue Sky I'm sorry about your little one. You tried, but you just can't always save them. Even though Tinkerbelle is doing great now. They are so fragile and so tough at the same time. Tinkerbelle is actually doing better than her twin that is on mom. Since I only have one on the bottle, I add the buttermilk to the bottle instead of in the milk jug. One lamb can't drink it fast enough and the buttermilk makes the whole jug thick and sour. So I add a tablespoon to each bottle and that works. I do keep powdered colostrum, in the freezer to keep it fresh. 2 days of colostrum, then I switch to the whole milk formula.

Sorry about the lamb. I always say it hurts more when they fight then when they just drop dead.

Coffee and treadmill here. Back to work after two weeks off. Not completely sure what is in stock for this week, but I'll find out soon enough.
Snow in the forecast for as long as they can predict. And we'll stay below 32 for a while I assume.
I need to get the school incubator up and running today, hoping to set eggs tomorrow.
Y'all have a lovely day.

This is so hard but true. RIP little one.

Sunshine right now. Hope it stays. Warmer all week. Probably our swan song for winter cold 🤔 😖

Woke up early, looked at my phone. Went back to sleep. These days I'm generally waking with the light. And I have been sleeping through the night, no 2am wake ups! I attribute that to retirement, and the removal of stress.

Coffee, breakfast, walks. Skim of ice on water containers around the yard. It's still a bit nippy but the sun is warming it up outside. I have some administrative duties I can work on, will head outside to attack the shed later, once it gets a little milder.

Wisp soaking up some rays. My inner OCD is not happy with the green post at an angle. Will see if I can redo it, as there were lots of roots making it difficult to drive it down securely.
