@RR Homestead I've been doing TNR here for almost 20 years. It's definitely dangerous for outside cats with our wildlife and loose dogs, but some do survive. And so I have no outside rodent issues.

In 2007 Momma Cat gave us two litters before we could trap her. I managed to TNR her and the majority of her 8 kittens, but most of them disappeared within a few months. Her daughter Mittsie lived into her teens like her mother.

The spay clinic closed, and I can't afford $400 to spay at the corporate-owned vets, so the feral cat population is increasing.

What a lovely group of ferals. We are blessed here to have a vet willing to do males for us at her house. Used to be free but now $35 to cover the cost of the flea meds she insists on using. Still cheaper than a vet clinic. I'm so sorry to hear the spay clinic closed. I'm a bit worried about that at our new place. If there is resources to take care of the ferals or not. I can not see spending $400 for a cat that will likely die quickly. We've done at least 100 over the years and few survived any amount of time. We can only do what we can do. Every bit helps. Just hard with the way things are going in the veterinary industry. The animals are the ones that suffer from it.
 
Kitty is dropped off. I'm not sure if she will be released or if we will try and see if she's a prospect for a home. I'd prefer to turn her out and let her life what life she can. Part of me wants to save her but the amount of work it takes right now on top of moving seems a bit much. We'll see what DH decides. We'll have her in a recovery pen for a few days anyways. See how she does.
Came home for a bit. Too early for the auction. Debating a nap or just go up and watch the butcher cows go through before the calves and pairs. Enjoying the heating blanket with kitties in my lap and a cup of coffee. Might make some breakfast before I go so I'm not hungry in a while. Decisions. Decisions.

Good morning all! Working on a project with my son today. It's a delayed Christmas present. Getting sick set me way back. I 3D printed a box shaped like a knitted cat. It's for a Penney drop game. I found the box design and bought it, then my son modified it for the coin slots, he could have designed the box too, but doesn't have time. He did help me design the coins. That's what were hopefully doing today. The coin tree's (there are 3 with 28 coins) will be placed in steel flasks, then we will fill them with plaster. We will then put those into a kiln at 1350° for 10-12 hours to burn out the plastic coin trees, leaving the design inside. We will then pour molten pewter in and you have metal coins. Then we will remove the coins from the trees and polish up any rough spots. After that we will add gold colored electroplating. It's an amazing process, to me anyway.

I still need to print the nose and eyes. You can see the slots son added in. SIL likes green. This is a blue and green shiny filiment.

Good afternoon all.
Didn't end up going to the auction and I'm glad I didn't. Took a nap instead. Figured I would wake up in time to make it for calves but didn't. Checked the online feed and prices are stupid high! Glad I slept instead of wasted time waiting for calves. First sale of the year. Wasn't sure what to expect. Will reach out to the dairy tonight and see if they get any bulls soon. I have never in my life of owning cattle seen $5.50 per pound prices on feeders.

Got the call from the power company that our application was accepted and to call to pay the deposit to start service. Got that taken care of. I'm not sure why I'm excited about another duplicate bill to pay but I am. 😂 One step closer to being in our new house.

Going to sit here and catch up on a few things for a bit then get ready to head to town and pick up the feral kitty. Still need to set up a recovery cage for her. DH will be up before I am home from pickup so we'll get it done as soon as I get home.
 
We are back home. Kitty is settled into a cage now. DH has already had his hands on her while she is still woozy. She must have just started waking up when I got there. I've never had one this woozy for this long post spay. BRB
Just checked on her again. Oh my gosh she's so stinking adorable. Pet her a little through the cage again. No clue what she'll be like in the morning but we're hoping she will realize we didn't hurt her today when we touched her. Our plan is to keep her in the cage and see how she does. If she's receptive to being friendly we'll keep working with her. If not we'll decide from there once she's healed enough to turn loose. Will give her some time and see how it goes.
Just got off the phone with the dairy. Heifer calf after heifer calf after heifer calf. I'm so worried now about our heifer we had in with that bull. 😂 Told her I was drawing a line in the poop pile! If our heifer has a heifer they'd better have 2 bull calves waiting! 1 to trade for the heifer calf and 1 more to graft on her so hopefully they can keep up with her production. Heaven help me if it's an adorable heifer calf. I'll have to smuggle it out before DH see's it. 😂 There's 14 currently due in the next few weeks so hopefully we can snag up a couple for our current milker so I can swap out the calves on her and then have 2 or 3 in waiting for the heifer due in a couple weeks. It's an absolute muddy mess right now with all the rains we've had which will make life miserable for grafting but I doubt it will get any better anytime soon.

coffee is ready. Tinkerbelle has had her bottle, is diapered and running around the living room. I have my first cup of coffee. Carson is taking his leisure on his towel. It's a fog whiteout, yesterday I couldn't see 150 feet. It didn't lift until after 9:00. I leave this morning to take Buford to Houston for collection, or breeding a lovely female Anatolian. I hope he gets it together and doesn't freak out like he normally does when he leaves the farm. Neighbors from Switzerland are eagerly waiting to babysit Tinkerbelle again.
