It's 77° here, and the barrier is up!

I used plastic fencing and electric fence stakes, all stuff I had on hand. So far, so good. It's meant as a deterrence, not a dog-proof barrier.

Love it.. think that is great... Caleb gets leash free running etc... chickens get to see him through the barriers but not close enough to have him up against the pens... everyone gets a little more accustomed to the activity... and then hopefully when he "matures" a little more, he will get over some of the puppy running and they will have gotten used to him without feeling panicky...
SMART DEAL.... I have some of that plastic stuff in the orange... can't remember what/why but it is there... great that is was stuff already on hand...

Thank you!

I got a lot of free stuff through Amaz0n Vine. A couple years ago I received an invitation to join, I just needed to write reviews. Last year they changed their policies, I had to supply them with my credit card information even though everything was FREE. Nope, I declined, so I no longer am a member.

Most of my fencing was obtained free through Vine.

@Mini Horses is missing all the rain... we have had rain since yesterday... showers and spotty yesterday, then serious light steady last night and this morning... Have over 1.1 inches.. Temps staying right in the 48-52 degrees.... we needed it so bad but it is slippery in the pastures as it soaks in so slow this time of year. But it has been perfect rain... VERY THANKFUL....

Good afternoon all!
Started out the day with great news from the dairy! They finally had their 2 legged bull calf (aka tiny human for those who don't know farm humor). He's the most adorable guy to add to the 2 legged herd. Mom and baby are doing great. So happy for this update. A new blessing after a few losses. This makes number 4 (bulls/boys) from this pair (parents). 5 boys total and counting for grandma. So exciting! Can't wait to meet him.
Graft calf is doing fantastic so far. He's getting the hang of nursing. Hope to go pick up the second calf this evening. With the new addition I'm not sure when everyone will be seeing the baby so we'll play picking up by ear for now. So looking forward to weaning the big calves. I tell ya this holstein/jersey graft that is overdue to wean is dumb as a box of rocks. He's come in the same gate, the same way for 6 months now. He usually is 2nd to come through the gate because he's a little "slow" in figuring things out. Today he stood in the corral balling like he was dying. Literally looked at the open gate he watched me open (same gate as always), watching his "brother" rush through to get to mom and saw his new "brother" nursing already. He stood at that gateway crying and carrying on calling for "mom" who was right in front of him as always. He walked around screaming and carrying on until "mom" was pretty much empty. I put "brother" out through the same gate and he still didn't figure it out. I finally pushed him around the corral and out gate to mom. Then it registered in his pea brain. 🤦‍♀️Now he's upset because he didn't get much nursing. He leaves tuesday. It will be a good day for us.
:clap
Cut my finger pretty bad last night cutting up the sheep. It finally seems to have stopped bleeding. Thought it was never going to stop. Probably should have put stitches in but didn't want to take the time to do it. 😂Interesting feelings looking into the sheep/goat pen. Numbers of animals just keep dwindling around here. Mixed emotions. It was a good time for the boys. Sad for us as they are 9 years old so they've been a constant around here. Just making it easier and easier to leave. DH and I got some really good talking time in while finishing up last night. Slowly feeling hopeful and excited for the future.
Now that calves are fed I'm checking the forums and having some coffee. One kitty asleep in my lap. DH will be up in another couple hours or so. Then the work begins. This is our last night of our weekend.
Hope y'all have a great rest of the day!:hugs
