Back in for coffee. Got the ladies and lambs (ewe lambs) to eat out of the trailer - but no one jumped in. To be expected. Got all the ram lambs and the St Croix to hop in and snack. I'll give the ladies and lambs two more shots at it through out the day. All have been weighed again - nice gains for 2 weeks, and it'll be 3 ram lambs that stay for private sales and harvest in 2 weeks. I know the ones I'm keeping - but they won't be seeing a freezer.
Have I come full circle now?? I'm liking ram lambs for their size and freezer-ability. They also seem to do better at auction. Thinking the next lambs to drop I'll be happy dancing for ram lambs and not ewe lambs. :idunno

So far a great January...warm! Was actually sweating outside a couple days, just a T shirt & light flannel one over.😁 Haven't needed heat in house for 5 days -- amazing!! Last 2 nights have been 55-60 all night...goats sleeping in the fields. Alas, next week we'll go to norms 40 days & upper 20 nights. Been great while it lasted. Hope Feb isn't "payback".

Still 2 goats bagged up & close. I'll keep watching. Currently at 2buckling/3doeling. The FF is a GREAT mom.

Sounds like you're reaching your goals! Congrats! 💗

Hope they cooperate and load up easily when you need them to.

Our early sun, "nice" left around 10-11? The wind liked to knocked your legs out from under you... The temps dropped from about 47 for a little bit... to the mid 30's in an hour... We have had some snow flurries which they said we might get, and it is now down to 31...... COLD.....

It's winter.....

Good evening everyone! :frow
Had a fairly productive night last night. Got the walk in cooler set up so I can take pictures of it and get it listed on CL. As we were putting it up we decided to let this one go. If we decide we still want a walk in we will buy a used one there. It's not worth hauling this one across the country.
DH worked on a few of our rigs. I finished packaging the meat. That's all done and everything is in the freezer. Then I went to the dairy to pickup up bull calf number 2. While there dairy things happened as they always seem to do. In the chaos I end up taken down by one of the dogs landing on my knees on the concrete sliding down the incline headed out of the parlor. Covered in manure. Pretty bruised up and sore today. Shoulder, back and knees are hurting pretty good. Knees are swollen and bruised. Both calves are fed and doing well so far.
Taking it easy this afternoon so far. Need to set up a pen to get the calf ready to load for the sale yard. No way I'm getting the truck and trailer in right now. Way too muddy right now. Still a lot of water in the fields.
Hope y'all are having a great weekend! :hugs

Yikes! You icing your knees?

I have found that DMSO helps with soft tissue inflammation.
