Good morning all.

Need to paint the bathroom ceiling and wall hubs had to finish today.

Got the house ready for fil & sil to come down for a much delayed Christmas dinner on Sunday. I was too sick to have anyone over and didn't want to share with them. The main mess is cleaned up. Floors will wait until Saturday evening. It would be a wasted effort to do anything with them today. To much tracking in and out around here...lol

Just finished a late cup of tea! Back to work.

Glad we're not looking at freezing weather and feeling bad there's nothing I can do to help those of you who are. Stay safe and warm everyone! 💗

Stay as warm and dry as you all can. Hoping it's not as bad as predicted.

they will be fine. I do find that sudden dips into cold weather will cause them to stop laying.

if you use small water pans, it is best to bring them in at night, and then bring them back out in the morning.

Higher protein feed is nice. I feed mine 20% protein in the winter.
They're on 18% crumble, plus tidbits of leftovers including meat.

I saw a hack, somewhere, of adding to chicken waterers small water/soda bottles with SALTED water inside. I'm willing to try.

Each coop has a 5 gallon cup waterer plus a rubber tub. In very cold weather I bring warm water outside, break and dump the frozen water, then refill the tubs. It works pretty well.

I'll bring Esther inside again if she's not roosting with the others. It's going to be too cold for her to roost alone, especially since she's not 100% yet.

Feral cat shelters have been cleaned out, fresh straw added.

Thinking of trying tarp solutions for ice, covering my car and half the wooden steps.

Time to go check on Esther...

Forgotten was the searches for lost lambs and sheep, dogs. The tending in bad and worse weather, the lugging of feed and water. The disappointing and confounding deaths. Forgotten were the Joys. The lambs, the ewe who survived the odds. The dogs who Saved the flock from predators, flood or theft. Lively Up Shepherd Barbie, your party has just started.

Ok, I need ideas and I think this thread can pull through for me.
Going grocery shopping tomorrow, and I need ideas of foods that I can make that can last a few days, but also are from shelf stable foods. The rotation of Mexican bowls, spaghetti, Mac and Cheese, and Chili, is almost getting old. And unfortunately in this town, if I can help it, I only go to the grocery store once a month.
