Hey @RR Homestead .... dry snow is the kind that wouldn't pack into a snowball if your life depended on it... it is like those little tiny styrofoam ball things in the bean bag chairs and such... light as a feather... actually easy to push out of the way... as opposed to a wet heavy snow that will pack into a snowball, and weighs a ton to shovel... There's not alot of moisture in this type snow by its self... now the ones that are getting the sleet/ice on top of it will get more measurable moisture out of it...
Rule of thumb is an average snow, not too dry or wet... will be 12" snow=1" rain... this dry stuff is more like 20=1... real wet heavy flakes can be as good as 8=1 ... But I will take any and all we can get...

Feeling about the same, little better; plus, I can finally lay down to sleep. Breathing is okay, not great, but still alot of cough and this drippy crap.... blowing my nose alot still.... Have very little "wind" so takes me a long time to get things done.... but it is better than it was...
I'm so glad to hear that you're feeling somewhat better. It's been a long time.

Liquid gold (colostrum) from our first milking. This will get freeze dried and put away for later use. Both calves are keeping up with her pretty well so far. Both are doing fantastic at the moment. Being dairy calves we have to take it day by day for a while on the compliments. It's just a wait and see game with them for the first few weeks at least it seems like. :fl

Adorable little buggers.
:love

The cross calf looks a bit like a deer, but the head tilt of the Holstein is too cute!

And look at the green grass in the background!! 😊

Cold and iced over here....that winter catastrophy that happened. Not heating up this week, it's messy!

:caf is my plan for another half hr. Then I'll suit up & get to chores. Job work scheduled but I'll walk to the road before I make that decision -- go or reschedule. Main roads will be fine, just a couple back roads to consider, maybe 3 miles of. At least it's a long day at only one store. Warmer now than yesterday.

-8 out, supposed to get up to a balmy 22 today. We won't see above freezing anytime in the forecasted future (maybe next Sunday). Really hasn't been any snow in the last couple of weeks though, and I think we could use it.
Baby chicks are supposed to hatch tomorrow, need to go get stuff set up for them today. Less then likely any of my kids have ever seen a chick hatch, and the ones that have, probably don't remember it, so I'm excited to watch them watch it happen if we're lucky.
Should rally now and go load up my bag for the day. It feels stupid to put on snow pants to be outside for five minutes, but also very necessary.

Only mid 30 days all week here...mid teen nights. A week of frozen water to deal with, sadly. Jan/Feb are always our hardest part of winter but certainly paying for the "softer" winter of last yr. Not liking it.

But I have a lot of company (y'all) in my misery. 🤣

So much extra work to dress for going outside!!! 🫤🥶
