Up late, after 7am, lazy!

All critters cared for. I skipped Caleb's walk at the park partly due to the cold, but also because I was meeting a former coworker and the time got moved to earlier.

I spent a couple hours outside in the back yard, getting things ready for incoming weather.

My feet still feel cold.

It's just COLD. Wake to teen temps, go to bed with them 😞 Tomorrow winds kick up more, maybe some flurries...stormy snow comes tomorrow night.🥶🥶 Geesh. 🥶🥶 Got propane tanks refilled, sure don't want to loose that heat. Always poss loss of electric but, this heater needs none 👍

If we get snow suggested, I'll be home a week!! Bad roads.

@Alaskan I'd love to send you ALL my coming snow😁

So how did the eggs go? Did any hatch? I feel so bad for both you and the kids. Disappointing!

I STILL remember how cool it was in 10th grade... we incubated eggs for just a few days (can't remember how long), and then super carefully took off a section of shell. It was at the stage where you see just a heart and the veins and arteries. No skin to hide the view. And the heart just kept beating away. Wild!

Yeah... I know that isn't what you were doing. And... probably can't do that in school any more? :idunno
Now what you did is crazy. I worry about traumatizing my kids...

No eggs hatched unfortunately. Kinda confused why, but also kinda the luck that we have had with eggs from my chickens in the incubator. Talked to another teacher who has chickens, and we will restart with eggs of his in a week.
Cracked open the eggs today, 3 stopped growing in about the first week, 2 had done everything but absorb their yolk. Makes no sense, and disappointing for the kids. But also in the worst way, a lesson on the true realities in agriculture, sometimes this does happen.
The two chicks that were close got a funeral complete with a proper burial.

Highs in the 50's for the next foreseeable future of the next 10 days. I wanted to rest and recover from the summer/fall work I did of 12 hour days, but looks like my body is going to say nope, full throttle here we go! Maybe some cold weather and snow will come in, in two weeks to slow me down...

I woke up at 7:30. I’m sore and tired. Been working outside. Ran sheep through the chute yesterday, wormed all of them with a homeopathic remedy. Neighbors with 3 boys came over to help. They had a blast and were a big help. Then I pulled stapled out of some posts. Muscles are screaming at me.

Pulling staples out of posts is a real PITA... I did several stints, several days, last year ... all that fence that got taken down at one farm, that they brought to doug's... many good posts, both wood and t-posts... with the wood posts costing over $15-20 a piece, it doesn't take long for the savings to add up... BUT... it's a job... and the reason why so many just pull the old fences down here and smoosh them into piles and pick up and put in dump trailers and take to landfill... The "conservative" repurpose person in me cringes every time I think of it... hence the couple piles that he had them dump at doug's.....Everyone's time is "too valuable" to take things apart, redo, reuse....
