Our last cold day, I hope. 2-6 this morning with low 20's for the high. After today the next 7 days will have higher lows than todays high. 40's tomorrow almost doubling todays temp. So look out Mini, FJ and east coasters. Usually you follow us in weather. So hopefully your warm up is just a few days away.
I have several things I should/need to do today. But since I don't "have" to today and it'll be twice as warm tomorrow, guess who's going to procrastinate.

Working but not this week. Just had a weld test Wednesday. I've been fitting for this company for a couple of months now. I'll be fitting and welding now, which is what I normally do anyway but now I'll get a couple of dollars for it. The last outfit I was in SD with, finally called with some work while in the middle of the weld test after months of no work.
Kids are growing, enjoying their Sat morning cartoons right now.
I piddled around last weekend and Mon to where I didn't get my welder running and things ready to make a practice weld until after 4p.m on Tue. Only got 2 welds made before it was dark and I was running out of argon.

More hot weather high 84 today. This is not good. I have figured it out though -- all you who are in the cold and ice right now keep asking, hoping, and praying for warmer weather or even summer. Will you all please give a little direction to those prayers 'cuz I'm getting all your blessings.
Still on lamb watch, yeah I think those ewes have pumpkin patches in there.
Finishing up the last of my coffee then over to the barn, sheep, and move cattle panels to the gardens to make arches for the beans before they give up waiting.

Coffee made, critters fed and watered, Caleb walked. I cooked some older ground beef, from 2022, added onion, canned mushrooms, it tastes fine. It's now in the refrigerator for beef on toast, later.

I took the fat water from the pan, made suet for my chickens. I added chicken feed and BOSS.

Going out in a few to check for eggs, will give them a little of the "suet".

Currently 39 with a little rain. Just listened to a flock of geese fly over the house, they are so noisy. Not sure what all I'm doing today. Hubs will be playing golf. Kitchen is clean, laundry is done... don't know how that happened at the same time...lol I'll head out after the rain to give the chickens clean water and make sure their feeders are topped off. Love those feeders, fill them up and the girls are good for a week or longer. We'll probably work on the dresser this afternoon. I know, I need some outside work, I'll work on doing some more clearing where I want to plant flowers for the bees. Should be able to have it ready for hubs to rake it with the tractor.
Need to stop rambling and get some tea. Have a great day all! 💗

@CLSranch -- yep, supposed to be warmer here Tue or Wed. 40s. That's our norm but it'll feel like summer after past 2 weeks! 🤣 With winds today, it's a feel like of 11*. Boy does it feel like it!!

I've been filling water tubs. Yep 5 gal at a time...times 100 gal worth. Hoses are not iced but cheapies, & old, so they snap if bent. Spigot in barn is accommodating the bucket brigade. Certainly better than 200+' to house. Just 30' this way. And the heated tub is " right there", so full & ready. Double checked barn water lines insulation while filling buckets and added some tighter ties on some. I think the cats were trying to use the heat tapes 😁. Plus I found a new roll of heavy mil plastic for covering some windows on coops, barn, etc. Inside to have lunch & warm up....I'll take stapler out with me when I go back out shortly. Get those windows covered...should have done that already! Almost bought more this week and told myself to check first -- thought I saw it this summer. Nice ... Saved $40. 👍

Better get back out there ... It's cold!!

29 right now with a brisk north wind so wind chill is- chilly (I prefer not to know). A slow warm up starts tomorrow after a low in the low teens tonight. The sheep look ok. Hubbs bought some more of the better hay although ours is much improved. They eat it all. The Maremmas have been penned but Moses will resume flock guarding with supervision. Gotta get the lamb predation stopped. Time will improve things, he’ll get older, lambs will get older and before I know it it will be 102 with a heat index of 109. The other problem dogs I had followed that formula. And I spent a lot of time in the pasture. A lot. Vala needs to be spayed. Has spaying changed much? Dang I hate the thought of surgery but I don’t want puppies and heat chaos. I’m getting soft. There are too many unwanted dogs. Well I’m batting on. Good luck to all of you facing the bad weather, you’re in my prayers.

Went outside again about 3:30, last time with my lined "Crocs", the snow is about 2". Caleb anxious about the snow.

Checked the flocks, their water, food, eggs. They're all hiding in the back of the coops. I threw a flake of straw in each coop.
