More hot weather high 84 today. This is not good. I have figured it out though -- all you who are in the cold and ice right now keep asking, hoping, and praying for warmer weather or even summer. Will you all please give a little direction to those prayers 'cuz I'm getting all your blessings.
Still on lamb watch, yeah I think those ewes have pumpkin patches in there.
Finishing up the last of my coffee then over to the barn, sheep, and move cattle panels to the gardens to make arches for the beans before they give up waiting.
I heard you are so dry down there that there's been fires. Didn't catch the locations just "Southern CA".

Good afternoon everyone!
Been a busy few days. Finally had the 3 calves healthy and going for a second. Adopted mom has claimed them all. Went to turn them out to pasture yesterday and the sickliest one was acting off. Again. Gave him meds as it looks like pneumonia is setting in and decided to turn them out since it's a 3 day med anyways. Tested "mom" because she was also acting a little off. Yep. Little miss seek and destroy her own poop piles right into her udder yet again has mastitis. This time not just one side but two. Had to take a hose to her just to clean her teats off enough to check. I have scooped poop 2 times daily and sometimes in between when I see a pile and she still looks for poop to lay in. Even with hefty layers of straw. She can be out to pasture and still find piles to lay in. I'm really thinking this cow will need to retire after her next calf. Especially with her two daughters now in or coming into production. Treated the pneumonia that appears to be setting in for her with our horrible weather swings and her mastitis so she's separated from her calves again. We're using pharmaceuticals so we'll be dumping her milk for a few days. Always fun milking and dumping. (sarcasm) So now we are back to treating and feeding the calves twice a day. Just came in from feeding them after the required "do not milk" time for the meds and the calf I treated yesterday is scoured up AGAIN. This is why I hate having dairy calves. Sometimes I swear spending twice as much on a beef calf you still come out ahead after all the meds, time keeping them healthy. Especially when you still loose them and have to replace them. Newest member to the milking string has settled in fairly well to milking so far. She loves her two babies and is doing a decent job with them. We've had a few training battles but it appears she's deciding the kick bar just isn't so much fun after all so standing and not kicking is the easier way to go. She's been a dream so far for the most part. Edema is going down fairly well so she's getting more comfortable by the day. Another month and the other heifer will be calving. Sure hoping we can get the older cow and her calves healed up and out to pasture before then.
Went to drop off documents for the trust taxes. The joke of an accountant tried charging us double. He met his match. We thought we'd already paid and that we had gotten a discount for both the "accounting" and the "taxes". Had we known we hadn't already paid for the taxes we absolutely wouldn't have gone to him. A kindergartner could have done a more professional job at the accounting. Still can't believe he was recommended by the attorney. Yet again he showed us other clients personal tax forms with their information and SS#'s and everything. I have no words for how unprofessional this gentleman is and how EXPENSIVE he is for it. He said the feds did all their documents so he can file federal but state hasn't done theirs yet so we have to wait for state still. He's saying it will be around two more weeks before he can get them done. The saga never ends. Still waiting on that final health care refund check anyways so I guess it doesn't matter. Just really want it all done and behind up.
Called the PO for our new home yesterday. Spoke to a very nice gentleman and explained that originally I had put a 1 month hold on our mail there thinking we'd be back in time. Due to the storm and parts delays here we didn't make it so I went to work doing a 6 month forwarding to our old address. Had to go into the PO and verify our identity but got that squared away so the forwarding should have started already. Thankful I could go to the PO here to verify since who knows when we'll be home again right now. Even with the 30 day hold on the mail initially they were still delivering our mail. Previous owners said the mailbox was stuffed full when they went over to turn off the well for us. So clearly their 30 day hold and ours wasn't being done. The gentleman I spoke with was very nice and said he'd get with the carrier and check the box and retrieve any mail and forward the 30 day hold mail (if they had any there waiting) and get it forwarded along with our future mail. So hopefully they manage to do that and we are able to get the bills here for now. Previous house owners say that PO has a lot to improve on so don't hold my breath they do what they say. Guess we'll find out sooner than later. Sending a locking large mailbox with DH when he goes to install just in case I guess.
It's a very overcast day today but not foggy right now. Sure miss the sun. Everything is still a muddy mucky mess and it's been a bit since any rain. Nothing dries up when there's no sun. I think @SageHill is keeping it all to herself. 🤔 ;)
Hope y'all are having a blessed day!:hugs

I've had some cardinals here too, at the feeders I filled the other day... Need to recheck them... maybe tomorrow...
Also some chickadees, sparrows, looks like a wren or 2 that I see during the summer... a few goldfinch have been here ... some I don't really know... not looked close... just a bunch of different birds in and out.
