Good evening everyone! :frow
Went to the vet today to get more meds. Running low on a few. That bill should be a doozy. Have to go back thursday for another box of mastitis meds. Trying to stock up a little so when we move we are covered until we find a new vet there. As of this afternoon all calves are healthy and no treatments needed. First time in weeks. Cow might need another treatment tonight but I won't know until I get her milked out. Last night the filter still wasn't clear. A lot better but not quite there yet. If I don't have to treat her tonight I'll be letting the calves out to pasture with her full time. That will be a huge step and a huge load off my plate at the moment. Heifer training is going really well so far and unexpected. Hoping to have a little break before the next heifer calves. I'm tossing around the idea of calving out our oldest beef cow who's due the same time as our jersey heifer and take the calf off of her and graft her onto the jersey heifer. Process the cow instead of shipping such an old cow across the country just to process after weaning. I need a second calf for the jersey heifer and this beef cow is having a replacement heifer to replace her in the herd. She's old and has times of the year she's crippled. Not sure the long haul would be good for her and she's a bigger beef cow that takes up a lot of trailer space. Right now she's over 2000 pounds. I really like this cow but wanted to get another replacement heifer out of her before retiring her. I guess i'll see when calving time comes closer.
Got 2 gallons of cream warming on the counter to make butter with later. Using the new larger butter churn. Almost time to go milk. Am putting away cream in the freezer a couple times a week so we can have cream when we are running loads back and forth and I'm not milking. DH is closer every day to scheduling his first trip out since we became owners. It's going to be so hard for me to be here while hubby is gone but I'm excited for him to go. Unfortunately our "neighbors" are about moved out and I saw a new group looking around and they look to be another set of illegals. Can't yet determine if they are the bad sort or not. I was really praying we'd be out of here before a new set moved in. Not a good feeling DH being gone right when they are moving in. The faster he goes the faster we are moved so I'll just pray for safety and see where it leads.
Think that's about it for now. Need to go start chores and get milking done. Y'all have a great evening! :hugs

Good morning everyone. Two things about an early flight. I never get enough sleep the night before and when we can fly from our local airport, there is very little traffic.

Made it through security without getting patted down or having my carry on gone through. I can't tell you how many times that's happened to me and we don't fly that often. I think I must look like a pretty shady character...lol

Now we sit and wait. I can't even get a tea, nothing is open yet.

Still COLD. Things need to melt, it's not happening fast enough, long enough. I'm hating extended chore times -- ya really can't "get done".

Hot coffee. Chores. Off to work. Boring day.

Roads were thawing yesterday but, teen temps this morn will mean black ice possible. Fun drive. Be careful 👍
